Hawes, another market town and home to the famous Wensleydale Creamery is 13 miles away. For those interested in history and architecture, Middleham Castle, Bolton Castle and Jervaulx Abbey are all less than 10 miles away. For family fun, book tickets for the Forbidden Corner (a 4-acre garden with follies, statues and labyrinths), which is a treat for all ages. The popular Polar Express train ride is also close by. York with its abundance of shops, medieval streets, historic monuments and minster, is just 1¼ hours’ drive. Beach 46 miles. Shop 150 yards, pub/restaurant 100 yards.
