138 Kings Highway - Beautiful home close to downtown Lewes

This charming house is located in a quiet and picturesque neighborhood two blocks from downtown Lewes, which is known for its shops, restaurants, and historical landmarks.

With four bedrooms and three full bathrooms, the property comfortably sleeps eight. The den’s sofa converts to a queen bed creating a first-floor sleeping option. Adjacent to the cozy living room is a fully equipped kitchen with modern appliances and a formal dining area. The sunroom is the perfect space to curl up with a book. The den has plenty of floor space and a flat-screen TV, which is perfect for plugging in your favorite gaming station. The living room, den, and master suite televisions are equipped with Hulu Live TV and access to all other Hulu content.

The house also features a private backyard with a grill and outdoor seating, screened-in gazebo with a dining table for eight, and lounge chairs and umbrellas. The property has parking for two cars.

The beach is just a 5-minute bike ride away and there are several local attractions, such as Cape Henlopen State Park and the Lewes-Cape May Ferry, within a short driving distance.

All guests must supply their own sheets, towels and beach towels or OPT in for our linen rental package.

This property does not allow pets

Guests must choose to purchase a $70 Vacation Rental Damage Insurance policy covering $3,000.00 in accidental damage, or pay a refundable security deposit of $2,000.00. Policies of a lesser amount are not acceptable. This amount will not be reflected in the quote amount on VRBO.

The property must be occupied for the entire rental period by the Guest signing the Lodging Agreement (Responsible Guest), and all occupants of the Property shall be supervised by the Responsible Guest. The Responsible Guest must be at least 25 years of age. If the party is made up of unrelated individuals (a group rental where the Responsible Guest is NOT the legal guardian/parent of any other guests), ALL guests occupying the property must be at least 25 years of age.

We accept Mastercard, Visa, American Express and Discover Credit Cards and eChecks for your initial deposit. We also accept personal checks for final payments. Final payments are due 30 days prior to your check-in date. NOTE: Any payments within 30 days of arrival require to be in certified funds or by credit card. You will be provided a link to a Guest Portal where you can securely make your payments online.

VRBO BOOKINGS: This property is hosted by the management company noted as Owner on VRBO. After booking the property you will be charged a booking fee by VRBO. ALL other fees and the rental amount will be charged by the management company and paid to the management company. Once you have booked you will be contacted by the management company and sent a Lodging Agreement that must be signed. Apart from Damage Protection, all fees associated with the booking are displayed in the VRBO booking.

Perfect house for a family vacation

What a lovely house! The house is perfectly situated near the main street and is just a short drive or walk to the beach. The space was very clean, nicely furnished, and comfortably fit my whole family. My kids loved playing in the back yard and exploring the Zwaanendael Park just down the street. We can't wait to go back!

They hit three of the four bedrooms, most prominent in the room with the twin beds. Hoping the issue can be resolved. Would so love to return next summer.

Lovely property, in nice convenient locale to main part of Lewes, but one twin-bedded room had windows painted shut that would not open. I would get property manager to ensure that this has been fixed before booking again. AC is mostly downstairs seeping to upward floor. In hot weather, this might be a bit awkward whether to have windows upstairs open or closed. Thankfully we had nice cool weather for our stay.

Amazing vacation spot to reunite with friends

The perfect spot to gather with close friends and all of our children. Plenty of space for eight. Walkable to the beach (but about .5 miles) and just blocks from downtown, this home is convenient to everything Lewes has to offer. Best of all, it is a wonderful place to just hang out, especially the back yard. The enclosed gazebo kept the bugs away, and the fenced in yard kept the kids in. We lucked out with weather, but had it been rainy, the home would have still accommodated a successful stay. Kitchen was fully stocked and suitable for a week of elaborate cooking. Highly recommended and we will be back!

Fantastic property!

The house and property were great! Awesome location if you are visiting Lewes. It is away from the traffic madness of Rehoboth, but also convenient to that area if you are interested in visiting (we had to go back to the Purple Parrot in Rehoboth because their crab cake sandwich is worth the traffic and parking!!) We enjoyed walking to the stores and restaurants in downtown historic Lewes and took a sunset cruise from the canal! Also enjoyed the Tuesday concert in the park (again, within walking distance). The bike rentals from Seagreen bicycles were great, convenient to the Junction Breakwater trail (all flat trail and diverse trail..and we are NOT bikers!) The house itself is amazing. Very well maintained and updated, but great charm! We had everything we needed and more! Backyard with gazebo also impressive. All positive, nothing negative at all. We hope we get back to Lewes..if we do, we 100% would rent this house again! Had great communication with the property manager throughout the process.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Have been visiting the DE beaches every summer for last 20 years. 4th year in Lewes and 1st stay at 138 Kings Hwy. Homeowner of our last Lewes rental called it quits after three years. This home is lovely - quiet luxury. We love being on King’s Hwy. Can walk to town and all restaurants, the bay, Park with summer concert, and to our favorite ‘The Station on the King’s’. Home is very well equipped with clear instructions and guidance everywhere. The back yard is a wonderful oasis. For sleepers used to a firmer mattress note the master bed is overly plush. And folks sensitive to noise note neighbors two doors down (home owners) have an in ground pool and appear to enjoy entertaining into the late evening with music; not obnoxious just homes are in close proximity.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The home has the potential to be a five star property. However, there were a few things lacking. Number one was the property manager. We purchased the linen package and the linens were not by our door as promised. We waited until the time indicated then started trying to contact the linen company. When the linen company was not responsive, we contacted the management company. At check in, we were told that an agent is on call 24 hours; however, we very quickly learned that an answering service is available that screens calls. We were not connected with the agent because lack of linens is not considered an emergency. After several more phone calls and hours, someone from the office finally delivered linens to the rental at 10:30 PM. And, the linens were still incomplete. There were not sheets available for the king bed in the master bedroom. This whole experience made a very sour impression. This home was clean but the bathrooms need attention. The one newer bathroom does not have a shower door or curtain which leads to water running all over the bathroom and adjoining laundry room. With the exception of one mattress, none of the beds had mattress pads which made for an uncomfortable night's sleep with sheets constantly shifting on the mattress.

It appears that some interior bathroom upgrades had been done since our last visit. Time and weather have taken a toll on the exterior decking and fencing. The outdoor garbage/recycle bins and their area are coated in tree sap and need a scrubbin'.
