Getting around is easy from our lakefront retreat! Free parking is available on the premises and on the street. For those flying in, South Bend International Airport (SBN) is approximately a 1-hour and 15-minute drive away. While public transportation options are limited in this area, the property's convenient location offers easy access to major roadways for exploring the surrounding region. Consider using ride-sharing services or renting a car to maximize your exploration of Bass Lake and the nearby attractions.

Please be aware that our home features classic lakeside architecture with steeper stairs leading to the upper level and may not be suitable for guests with limited mobility.

The host was wonderful and very responsive to any questions I had. The house itself was well stocked and had everything we needed! We brought the Thanksgiving turkey and meal with us and brought a bunch of our own things, and we didn't need them. It's a really well put together house!Very much appreciated the bed layout, the bedrooms, all of it. We look forward to going back when it's warmer to enjoy more of the lake and the outdoor area!

We had a wonderful 3 night stay at the Boat House! We were celebrating a 40th birthday party, and 10 adult women fit/ate/slept VERY comfortably! The beds were great, kitchen was nicely stocked (crock pot, hand mixer, milk frother, Keurig and traditional coffee maker, the list goes on!). There are 2 fridge/freezers in the garage, so we didn’t need coolers for drinks. Can’t say enough good things about the place—so thoughtfully done with great closet space, nooks to do puzzles/play games/drink coffee
it was all beautiful and really comfy! Stacks of towels—we had enough for 10 women. The garage was awesome for ping pong/arcade games/dance parties/separation for peeps that wanna be more loud/and for our visit: a place to hide from the rain while still getting some fresh air.The area is nice, with surprisingly good food within walking distance! DON’T sleep on Beachside Tavern!! Breakfast was so good, we had the chef (who just won a competition for her tortilla soup!) come out so we could compliment her! Many at the table said the biscuits & gravy were the best they’ve ever had. Bass Lake Pub had excellent pizza (but comically small shots). We enjoyed taking the golf cart on a loop around the lake (20 min). Too late in the season for the pontoon (bummer!) but the access to kayaks and paddle boards was nice.I’m sure I’m missing out on many more nice things to say about the Boathouse, but basically: don’t hesitate to book. Can’t wait to rebook!

Clean, Comfortable & Well Stocked!

The Boat House is super clean, comfortable and full of fun! Our family enjoyed the boat, fire pit, games, garage, bikes, ping pong, basketball and the golf cart! There was something for everyone! The kitchen is well stocked for meals in and the additional fridges in the garage were very helpful! Mat is very responsive and answered our questions very quickly! We would definitely stay again!

Boat House holiday getaway

3 families comfortably slept in the 4 bedrooms with good bedding. The Boat House supplied everything needed to prepare a large Thanksgiving feast. We appreciated that the house was very nicely decorated for holidays. The hot tub was a big hit. Many hours were spent enjoying the lake view and sunset from the west windows in the first floor enclosed sun porch and the upstairs bedrooms. The nice two tiled showers were greatly enjoyed. The arcade games and ping pong in the garage were enjoyed and heavily used since the outside weather was not so nice. We'd gladly return again to the enjoy the Boat House. The host was very responsive to all inquiries. Our only disappointment was to discover that the advertised fireplace was only decorative and not actually a functioning fireplace.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Bass Lake. January is certainly off-season for lake living in the Midwest, but we had a great time. The home is well stocked and has plenty of room for a big group. There are a couple of bars/restaurants within walking distance which is nice. Groceries are readily available just minutes away. Top notch experience

Large, spotless , well-stocked home wonderful for all ages!

We were 8 adults getting together for a yearly reunion. The house was very clean, beautifully updated and very well stocked for our chefs who love to cook. Matt is very attentive to his guests, replies and satisfies your needs quickly! The boathouse deck is wonderful to eat ‘Al fresco’ or sit in the seating area to watch the sunset. Having a boat available to rent is a big plus.

Family vacation

This property did not disappoint. Everything was as it appeared online. Clean, spacious, well stocked with everything you need. The beds were super comfortable as well as the pillows. The house was nicely decorated. The Boathouse has everything you need to enjoy the outside. Great yard to enjoy. Glad we rented the Pontoon boat to enjoy the afternoons on the water. Dennis K. Whatever you want, this house has it, so no matter the weather, there's fun for everyone. Top marks for everything. Mat’s organized in getting you set up, and responsive when questions come up. The VRBO description is true, and the other reviews are accurate. Highlights were the game room, boat house with all the water toys, bikes for around the lake cruises, 3 days of tubing for the 8- and 11-year-old grandkids, and catching a 4 pound bass off the dock! Thanks to the hosts for such a clean, contemporary “fun house” where everything works!

Beautiful home

Best of the many VBRO homes we have stayed in around Indiana over the years. Really appreciate the updates and additions made from last year. Well stocked with supplies along with thoughtful touches. Very comfortable beds and furniture. Love the lake view and access to the lake. My only wish is that the check in time was earlier than 5 pm. That is later than any other place we have stayed. And driving up from Indy, that is actually 6 our time. But we plan to return next year. The whole family enjoyed our stay.

Perfect family getaway

Everything about this lake house was great! So much for everyone to do! The house was beautifully decorated and very clean. No detail was overlooked!! Lots of games and water activities to keep everyone busy! The kids loved all the games in the garage, swimming and fishing from the pier. Our favorite spot was the deck on the boat house and the back porch! Such a perfect space with wonderful sunsets. Mat was great with communication and answered any questions we had! We all had a wonderful stay and would recommend this property to anyone. We will be coming back!

Mat is really friendly and very proactive, gave all the instructions and details needed upfront. This place is really great for people who likes to do some water activities or even if you like the lake view. Sunset was awesome to take some good pics!

Beautiful Property

The house is beautiful, very nicely decorated, and well-appointed. The kitchen is extremely well-stocked, the bathrooms are spacious and updated, the beds are comfortable and there is plenty of sleeping space. The house is also stocked with plenty of things to do - games, bikes, kayaks, etc. Location is great and there is a lot of outdoor space to enjoy. We rented the boat for our stay, which was also very nice and convenient. Owner was very responsive and helpful. We all loved this rental and will definitely rent it again.

great spot for large family with young kids

we rented mat's property for a last hurrah before school started, & ended up inviting our extended family so we had a large group, with the cousin crew ages spanning from 3 to 21! the layout was perfect for a big multi-age group (like the mix of bunk beds in a room with a king) & the main floor was open yet cozy... lots of little seating areas for people to gather & chat, but still felt like we were all together hanging out. the kiddos LOVED the pop-a-shot basketball in the garage, & the deck out over the boat house was a fan favorite for all ages :) the house was well stocked -- we found everything we needed in the kitchen & everyone was excited to find all of the extras in the boat house as well (kayaks, paddle boards, tubes, noodles, etc). the house was great -- beds were comfy, decor was beautiful & well-represented in the listing photos. & tons of towels (always a bonus)! the lake was probably the best part -- specifically for parents of young kiddos (mine are ages 3, 5 & 7), as the water level was *very* shallow, so much so that my toddler was easily able to be 50-100ft from the yard & still could easily touch & enjoy some time in the water feeling independent (vs. having to be held or kept super close)... we definitely didn't let our guard down & kids had life jackets on always (mat also had a good variety of life jackets available for use in the boat house), but with the super shallow area & soft, sandy bottom, it gave the kids a bit more freedom to roam around (vs. trying to maneuver a steep drop off). my kiddos also had a ball doing catch & release fishing off the dock... my 7-year old & his cousins caught several bluegill -- they were thrilled! we rented the pontoon for our stay as well & were so glad we did... mat provided a thorough & informative use video prior to our stay so we felt comfortable navigating through some shallow waters. mat was a wonderful host -- super easy to communicate with & had some great recommendations for local eats. would highly recommend mat's property for anyone looking for a quick getaway (only took us about 2 hours from the greater chicago area) -- bass lake was a lovely place to unplug & enjoy some quality family time on the water. would definitely stay again!

Awesome house with everything needed for a great vacation!

This was one of the best homes we have rented through VRBO. The owner thought of everything that might be needed. The house was immaculate and had plenty of beds to accommodate a large group. Fun games and water toys available. Easy check in, and the owner responded to all of our pre-trip questions very quickly. We would definitely recommend this house! The lake is a bit shallow for boating, but the sandy bottom made for great floating and swimming.

Best Home on Bass Lake

My family and I hosted a family reunion at Bass Lake and stayed at this lovely home for a week. We rented two other very nice homes on the lake, but Mat's home was our favorite. We loved everything about the home. It is very clean, spacious, super comfortable and very tastefully decorated with terrific lake views. The large yard is wonderful for a family gathering and for kids. The pictures don't do it justice - you can walk out from the back patio directly to the deck on top of the boat house and enjoy a wonderful vantage point for the breathtaking sunsets. We enjoyed the SUP boards and the water toys and the kids enjoyed catching minnows off of the dock. I have rented many, many homes over the years, and Mat is by far the most wonderful host I have ever encountered. He is very responsive and incredibly flexible and just wants you to enjoy his lovely home. We surely did! I would highly recommend this lovely lake home.

Beautiful lake house and fun for all ages!

We had a wonderful time at Bass lake. The house was very clean and equipped with lots of games and activities to entertain everyone. It was nice to rent the pontoon boat and not have to worry about securing a boat rental. We will definitely be back to Bass lake!
