Wonderful

Beautiful home we had a wonderful time, although hurricane Humberto was in town,. Beautiful scenery from the deck, loved the boardwalk to the beach. The home is very comfortable and already planning on coming back and stay here again. Would be great though if a hot tub could be placed

5/5 Stars to offset the dramatic 1 star from the other reviewer & taking into account the fact that finding something appropriately sized for a single family/ small group beach front in Duck dog friendly is next to impossible.Definitely dated (which you can see in the pictures), but it’s been mostly well maintained (there’s a leaky window in the kitchen that has clearly been an issue for a while but that was our only problem) with thoughtfully updated thermostats/ bathrooms/ kitchen.*Very* clean, especially for an older property. The towels/ linens could use an upgrade, but they were clean and comfortable enough and much better than having to bring our own. Other complaints in the other review that I feel compelled to clarify: there aren’t any window treatments on the main level (true to the pictures shown), however this is the kitchen and it’s not on the same elevation as the neighborhood boardwalk, so some very serious effort would need to be exerted for anyone to be peering at you while you’re making your breakfast. As for the narrow property, literally every beach front property here is ‘narrow’ and finding houses further apart would require a trip to a different beach/ area all together. In regards to the basement, it is the spot where the age of the property is most obvious, but also there is only an extra bathroom and laundry down there (both of which are very clean), so I’m not sure where the overwhelming concern comes inOverall, would definitely stay again.

We left this rental three days early, with no expectation of recouping the cost. Located immediately adjacent to the neighborhood access boardwalk, it had no curtains on the middle floor windows, and rudimentary ones on the top floor, leaving passersby peering in the windows at all hours. Despite clearly heroic efforts by the staging team and cleaners, it remained musty, with a grimdark basement. On a narrow lot, the neighbors' activities were usually audible. All of these privacy and age issues left it sorely uncomfortable. This site is not worthy of your brand -- recommend offloading this property as soon as feasible.

Lovely Old Home… But…

We stayed here last year and made the best memories. This year, we brought our parents and dogs and had a wonderful time as well. These comments are about the property. We know that the house is old, so I took that into consideration before writing. First, cleaning was not up to par. We had sandspurs all over our house, which ended up under all of our feet while we were getting the house together on Day 1— the home was not cleaned properly. Yes, this is before anyone even went outside. We even had one under a dog's paw that we had to carefully remove with tweezers. They offered to come and clean the house again. We then had a leak, which filled six solo cups per day. We were offered extra towels to clean the mess, but I asked if it could be fixed instead. Maintenance came twice and possibly fixed the problem, but it's hard to say because it never rained again. We walked onto the upstairs porch and saw large, rusty nails (I mean 4 inches long!!) left behind that I almost stepped on… so make sure you guys get your Tdap shot before you come. In addition to this, there were broken shower curtains, and the windows were filthy. Unfortunately, the steps that lead you to the beach were mostly covered in sand with the exception of about 6 steps at the top, and not cleared out to use. Our older family members couldn't trudge up the hill, so they could never use our private entrance. I'm pregnant (but very fit) and was exhausted by the time I got to the steps. Isn't that the whole point of paying for a beach front property? I don't know… for the price, we had a LOT more issues than we did last year. Vacations are expensive, and where you stay really matters to us… but they are what you make them and if it wasn't for the beautiful days and family memories, my star rating would be much lower. We are mostly very disappointed in our stay and likely will not rent with Shoreline OBX homes in the future.
