True and full oceanfront condo with a lanai (balcony) that almost hangs over the beach. See the ponds below where the turtle and the eels want to come and feed. Let the sounds of the sea make you sleep after a day of sightseeing or relaxation. Both the bedroom and living room face the sea, where dolphins can be seen all year round and whales in season.

Hale Kona Kai is an intimate, absolute oceanfront complex of 39 one-bedroom condos. Located on the shores of Kona City, it is off the main road providing calm, ocean-view relaxation from every device. Located just south of Royal Kona Resort, excellent dining at Huggo's or Don Beachcomber's is a two-minute walk away and other restaurants are just a fun stroll away. The white sand of Honl's Beach is less than a quarter-mile south and the Kona Farmer's Market half a mile north.

The complex offers an elevator that provides convenient access for all. On the ocean side, you'll find a heated salt water swimming pool and a grill on the south end of the complex. There are laundry machines available on each level.

Each unit includes designated parking, safe WIFI, and cable TV. Both units, like Lanais, are non-smoking and Hale Kona Kai is non-smoking. Each floor has coin-operated washers and dryers for your use. Each condo does not have its own washer/dryer.

Our stay at this unit was a very positive one overallThe views from the lanai were possibly the best views we have experienced at any location, we have stayed at on the Islands.The kitchen and pantry were well-stocked and the beach equipment proved to be very useful.Communication with the management company was also a positive as they were attentive and courteous. A couple of suggestions would include the use of roach traps and/or insect traps, which we have seen used as a preventative measure at the majority of properties we have stayed at on the islands. This would have been helpful, as they proven to be very effective in instances in which we’ve seen them used.The amount of moisture in the unit could perhaps be addressed by using damp-rid or a dehumidifier Overall, we recommend this property and Hale Kona Kai in general due to its spectacular ocean views, proximity to restaurants and activities in downtown Kailua-Kona and surrounding areas and the good value for the rate.

Lovely condo located right next to the ocean and Kailua town. We loved Tanga watching as well as cruise ships, canoe teams, and even eels. We walked to Huggo’s and enjoyed an amazing dinner and 8 inch tall Hula pie.

Great location, Beautiful View, Dated interior

The location and view were the primary reasons we booked this place. Inside, the interior felt dated but overall fine. There are portable AC units for each room that keep the rooms cool enough if needed but they are very loud. There were smart TVs that connected to our streaming services so that was nice. The kitchen was adequately stocked, although only seasoning was salt/pepper. Some oil is in the cabinets. The closet has tons of camping chairs, 1 beach chair, large cooler, fins, snorkel gear, and 1 broken umbrella (which we didn't know was broken until we got to the beach!) There are a LOT of gnats that come into the unit at night that are attracted by the lights. We didn't know where they came from and was told that they are just a fact of life in that unit and there wasn't much you could do except sweep them away yourself. There were so many gnats one night we had to use the vacuum to try to suction them away, but as we were running both the AC units and the vacuum at the same time the circuit breaker tripped and we had to call property management to tell us where the breaker was. As long as you are ok with some bugs at night then its nice to cook breakfast and eat out on the balcony that is right next to the water.

Great Location & Beautiful View

The location and view is amazing. 5 minute walk to restaurants and shops. Coffee on the balcony in the morning watching the yellow tang feast below in the ocean was a great start of each day with beautiful sunsets ending our afternoons. Convenient parking, fully stocked kitchen, snorkel gear, beach chairs and cooler available for guests. Highly recommend!

Excellent View and Great Location

The view from the balcony is absolutely breathtaking. Kitchen area is great.There are two window vented air conditioning units that can help keep the rooms cool, but there is no central air conitioning. Ceiling fans in the bathroom and living room are helpful for ventilation. Propert manager was very responsive and help when contacted.

Unit fair, meldew smell

After finding the tucked in complex. Dark entrance and name not adequatey lite, sign. We are handicaped and one uses a cane to get around. The wagon came in very handy to get luggage and necessitys up to the unit. The unit 302 was clean but meldewed smell

Loved it!

Perfect location, unbelievable sunsets every night, watching tropical fish and turtles from the lanai all day. Had the pool to ourselves. Slept with the windows open listening to the waves. We will be back!

Ocean front condo Hale Kona Kai

Ok best advise, stay in this condo. Plain on cooking a few meals! The views while you cook are amazing. Then when you can eat you meal on the balcony enjoying a great sunrise or a stellar sunset. Walking distance from everything you need. ( Safeway is 7 minute drive in traffic)Ha I don’t wanna spoil much, I’d rather you be surprised in a great way. So just stay here

Falsely advertised as renovated.

this is falsely advertised as renovated condo. It’s old and dated condo, carpets are gross, air conditioning is prehistoric, kitchen appliances and pots and pans are from ages ago. The rooms smells of unpleasant urine-like smell. Portable A/C units are blocking the sliding doors and windows so they never fully shut. Bug nets on the windows have holes so defeats the purpose of keeping mosquitoes out. Closet in the bedroom is full of owner’s junk such as fishing rods so it’s impossible to store your own stuff. They provide one toilet peper roll as starter pack for three days - so you pay them hundreds of dollars for each day of the stay and they still expect you to go to supermarket to get your own toilet paper. I specifically booked this because I hate old dated condos so was looking for renovated or new even willing to pay higher price. These guys cheated me and took my money for falsely advertised condo. I want my refund!!!

Mostly a good stay at HKK

We have stayed at this complex 8 times now (but not this room). With 2 notable exceptions, the overall cleanliness this time was better than before. Also, the central A/C was not musty/moldy as it was during previous visits. Property manager said that they refurbished the A/C recently. Problems on this visit: 1) There was a cockroach in the bathroom on the last night. This individual unit was clean, so there may be a problem within the complex. 2) We pulled a blanket out of the closet that had some disgusting solid stains on it. This unit has a great view and is nicely decorated. The indoor and outdoor furniture was comfortable. But, for us, the bed was too firm. It is a mattress on a rigid platform. The noted cleanliness problems can be addressed by property management. But the firmness of the bed may cause us to look at other units. Nitpick: The property management only provided detergent for 4 loads of dishes during our 10 day stay. If they want to deter cockroaches, they should provide more detergent. Liquid dishsoap for washing by hand was plentiful.

45th wedding anniversary

We had a great time in Hawaii! Hawaii has really changed since we were there 25 years ago! Not as clean as it use to be lots of homeless!!! very disappointing! I find it very hard to believe this condo was newly renovated!! Mold in the tub, toilet perfect size for a child, air conditioner ran all the time along with 2 portable air conditioners (all 3 very noisy)! furniture was very uncomfortable!

Great location! Walkable to many places. There are tide pools just below the lanai, where I saw moray eels and schools of fish. You can hear the sounds of waves crashing all day and all night. We also enjoyed the small pool.

Great Views excellent Location

We had a wonderful time, and really enjoyed having our coffee on the Lanai each morning. The views couldn't be better. The ocean is literally just feet from you. The pool is clean and nice, and there are beaches that are very close. Shopping and restaurants are all within walking distance.
