Spend a day strolling Alton Water Reservoir, which has a peaceful 8-mile path for walkers and cyclists, and in the evening, come home to dine alfresco on the cottageâs lovely patio area.
From the private parking area (thereâs room for two cars), make your way to this rural hideaway and step inside. Kick off your walking shoes in the boot room and head to the stylish open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, which is bathed in natural light. Take a moment to appreciate the calming decor and mid-century styling before heading to the sleek kitchen area to rustle up some dinner. Share meals with loved ones at the elegant dining table while you enjoy the country views through the gardenâs French doors. Alternatively, head out into the garden and enjoy an al fresco dinner on the pretty patio. With uninterrupted, far-reaching views, this is a beautiful spot to enjoy an evening tipple. Head back to the lounge area to warm your toes by the wood burner, and at the end of the day, climb the stairs to choose from two restful bedrooms â a king-size and a twin â which are served by the family bathroom and separate shower room. Completing the interior is handy snug/office.
Spend a few happy hours discovering Christchurch Mansion and Park (7.5 miles), a stunning Tudor mansion with a fine collection of art and historical artifacts surrounded by a park. Alternatively, experience the thrill of go-kart racing at Anglia Indoor Kart Racing (10 miles).
