Located just outside Ilminster, at the foot of the Blackdown Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the hut is a perfect base for walkers and nature lovers. There are numerous scenic trails right on your doorstep, including routes through Combe St Nicholas and up to Neroche Forest, where ancient hill forts and woodland paths await. For a more challenging walk, head to Staple Hill – one of the highest points in the Blackdowns – and take in sweeping views across Somerset. The area is rich with wildlife, from deer to buzzards, and offers ample opportunities for photography or peaceful contemplation.

A short drive brings you to the market town of Ilminster, with its charming high street, historic Minster church, and an array of independent cafes and shops. Slightly further afield, Barrington Court and Forde Abbey make for excellent day trips, with beautiful gardens and historic architecture.
