Momo Lodge is a fully catered, privately hired ski lodge sitting right across the road from the slopes at Madarao Kogen. We sleep up to 36 guests across 9 bedrooms, and when you book, the whole place is yours.
Madarao is one of those places that Australians discover and then just keep coming back to. The powder is exceptional — consistently deep and dry in a way that's pretty hard to find anywhere closer to home — and the village has a relaxed, uncrowded feel that the bigger resorts have long since lost. We're a short two-hour bullet train ride from Tokyo on the Hokuriku Shinkansen, and we'll pick you up from Iiyama Station when you arrive, so the trip up is genuinely easy.
We have an on-site manager and staff with you throughout your stay who take care of breakfast each morning and keep the lodge clean and running smoothly. The idea is that once you're here, there's nothing left to organise: you can ski, eat, and enjoy it. Ski rentals and restaurants are both just a short walk away, which makes it easy whether you're here with the family or a big group of mates.
The lodge itself has a mix of Japanese and Western style. It's comfortable, well set up, and genuinely a lovely place to come back to at the end of a big day on the mountain.
