Wendover Cottage - 3 BR 2 BA

Summary:

The Cottage at Wendover is part of the historical property once home to Mary Breckinridge's Frontier Nursing Service. It offers 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths, a large living and dining area and kitchen. There is also a new front porch with mountain views! Plenty of parking, free wifi and pets are welcome too! Guests love the coziness and comfort this home offers. We have two sister properties that can be rented as well. The Barn and Suite at the Garden House also listed on Airbnb.



The Space:

The Cottage has three bedrooms. The master has a king bed and private full bath with shower stall. The other two guest rooms have two twin beds each and share a full bath with tub & shower. The living room and dining room are very spacious and a great place to relax and enjoy time with family and friends. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to cook your own meals and we offer a drip coffee maker with all the supplies. All bed and bath linens are provided as well.



Guest Access:

Guests have the entire house to themselves and no areas are off limits. There is a large yard and a fenced field in front of the house which guests are welcome to use however, no ATVs on the grass. Large trucks and trailers are also welcome to park in the field in front of the house but would need to enter through the gate on the side facing the Wendover Road. You must cross a one lane, concrete bridge to enter the driveway of the Cottage. At the end of this short bridge is a gate that will be closed upon arrival, but once you check in you are welcome to leave it open during your stay.



The Neighborhood:

This cottage is located on a two lane road just outside of Hyden Ky. There is a huge yard and lots of space between you and the neighbors.



Getting Around:

A two lane road will take you to the Cottage. Once there, guests will have plenty of parking. ATV and horse trailers are welcome!



Other Things to Note:

The Cottage has two sister properties for rent as well. The Barn which has four bedrooms and two full baths and no kitchen but we do provide a mini fridge, microwave and coffee maker. And we also have private suite at the Garden House with queen bedroom, full bath and sitting room. If you are interested in renting either of these properties please let me know and I will add them to your reservation. Both are listed on Airbnb if you would like to see pics and more info.

Also, when you enter the address of the Cottage into GPS please be sure and take the route that brings you by the Leslie County High School, the other route is more difficult but not impossible. The Cottage is located up the road from Wendover, the historical home of Mary Breckinridge, and the Garden House and Barn. You will turn left off of Wendover Road onto Hurricane Creek Road, its the very next intersection after you pass Wendover (less than a mile) and you can see the Cottage from this intersection on your left. There is a sign at the entrance to the driveway that says "Cottage". One last thing we want all guests to know, when you are at any of the Wendover properties you are in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains and you may not be able to get a cell call out. This is totally out of our control. However, once you reach the property you will be able to connect to the wifi so you should be able to make a wifi call. Also you may want to make note of the address and keypad code before you leave home because you may not be able to access the internet while driving. On a good weather day you may be able to get a call out but we can't promise.



Interaction with Guests:

I rarely meet guests in person but I am always on duty. We do have an Ambassador who gives tours and a housekeeper who prepares all the properties for guests. If you need anything just contact me and I will notify them. They are happy to help.
