Sleeping up to two guests and surrounded by the sights and sounds of nature, it’s the perfect retreat for couples seeking a true digital detox. A must visit during your stay is the iconic Uffington White Horse (10 miles), one of Britain’s most remarkable landmarks. Set high on the hillside, it’s a wonderful spot for a scenic walk, a quiet picnic, or simply soaking up the far reaching views. Keen walkers will love exploring The Ridgeway (15.5 miles), which offers beautiful routes through rolling landscapes and ancient pathways, while the Vale and Downland Museum (11 miles) provides a fascinating insight into the heritage and history of the area. Alternatively, head to Highclere Castle (22.5 miles), world famous as the setting for Downton Abbey.


Enjoy the short drive or longer ramble down the peaceful farm track that leads to this off-grid property. On arrival, take a moment to savour the surrounding scenery of rolling fields, tranquil woodland, and a reed-lined lake that beckons wild swimming. The natural charm continues as you step into the accommodation, which boasts thoughtful eco-credentials such as air-source heating, and energy supplied from on-site turbines and solar panels. The social heart of the hideaway is the bright and airy open-plan living space, which combines a stylish kitchenette with a lounge and dining area. Soaked in natural light and offering glorious views through the bi-fold doors and floor-to-ceiling windows, it’s easy to forget about the world and unwind between your adventures here. The kitchen boasts all the essentials needed for cooking up light meals and prepping picnics for the day ahead. Enjoy the chef’s work at the dining table inside or alfresco at the outdoor furniture, before sinking into the soft seating in the lounge space. When it’s time to call it a night, head to the rear of the property and retire to your restful double bedroom, which features direct outdoor access and an en-suite shower room with a rainfall shower. A separate WC completes the interior.


Step outside whenever possible and embrace the surrounding scenery. Start the day with coffee at the outdoor furniture, linger over evening drinks, and make full use of the private swimming spot in the adjacent lake. With private parking beside the property, arrivals and day trips are made easy. This property is a sustainable space, heated by an air source heat pump, and all energy needs are generated on site through two wind turbines and solar panels. All waste water is treated ecologically onsite through a reedbed water filtration system All lighting is energy-saving LED lighting, we provide an electric car charger on site and we recycle all food waste, tins, cans, plastic packaging, cardboard, paper, glass bottles and jars through registered and licensed waste removal service to keep general waste to a minimum.
