Cadre spectaculaire dans l'est du Devon préservé, à 15 minutes de la cÎte jurassique.

La maison est située dans le hameau pittoresque de Shore Bottom, dans une région d'une beauté naturelle exceptionnelle. La spacieuse propriété de 3 chambres a un terrain de 6 acres et possÚde un beau grand jardin avec une terrasse donnant sur 3 étangs de tailles variables et un kiosque couvert de roses et de chÚvrefeuille avec vue sur la campagne au-delà. Les étangs sont une belle caractéristique de la propriété, mais un danger pour les petits enfants.
Il y a 2 salons - l'un avec des portes-fenĂȘtres donnant sur la terrasse et un espace chaleureux avec poutres en chĂȘne pour profiter du poĂȘle Ă  bois installĂ© dans l'ancienne cheminĂ©e d'origine, l'autre salon est une grande piĂšce contemporaine Ă  cĂŽtĂ© de la cuisine, des portes-fenĂȘtres s'ouvrent sur le jardin et il y a une vue imprenable depuis toutes les fenĂȘtres sur les champs environnants, qui abritent souvent des chevaux ou des moutons.
La cuisine est une belle cuisine de campagne traditionnelle du Devon avec table en pin et Aga (il y a aussi un four électrique). Il a une délicieuse banquette donnant sur le jardin et les étangs.
Il y a une trĂšs grande buanderie avec lave-linge et sĂšche-linge. Off c'est une grande salle de douche moderne.
La chambre principale a un lit super king-size et une vue magnifique Ă  double aspect. Il y a une salle de bain familiale avec douche. La deuxiĂšme chambre a un lit Kingsize.
À l'autre extrĂ©mitĂ© de la maison se trouve un autre escalier menant Ă  une grande chambre avec 3 lits simples dont un lit gigogne qui se retire pour faire un lit double ou simple supplĂ©mentaire (4 couchages au total).
Il y a des meubles de jardin et un barbecue à disposition pour profiter du jardin en été et un deuxiÚme réfrigérateur-congélateur pratique dans le garage.
Le pub le plus proche est l'ancien Tuckers Arms dans le village de Dalwood, Ă  5 km, une trĂšs bonne cuisine maison, des rĂŽtis du dimanche incroyables. La plage la plus proche est Lyme Regis (15 minutes) oĂč vous pourrez dĂ©guster du fish and chips sur la plage, ou pousser le bateau et admirer la vue imprenable sur le Cobb et le port depuis le restaurant Hix Crab and Oyster House.
Axminster, avec sa ligne de train directe vers Waterloo, se trouve à 15 minutes en voiture et a été fermement mis sur la carte avec le restaurant River Cottage de Hugh Fearnley-Whitingstall.
Honiton est également à 15 minutes et est une ville historique du Devon avec un marché hebdomadaire le samedi. Le groupe exigeant d'hÎtels Pig a récemment ouvert sa derniÚre offre, le Pig At Coombe, à seulement 20 minutes en voiture.
L'East Devon est trĂšs prĂ©servĂ© et il y a de nombreuses villes cĂŽtiĂšres Ă  explorer, du bijou Topsham sur le magnifique estuaire de l'Exe au bord de mer classique de Sidmouth. Il y a une promenade fantastique sur les falaises de Beer Ă  Branscombe oĂč vous ĂȘtes rĂ©compensĂ© par un dĂ©licieux dĂ©jeuner au Mason’s Arms.
Il y a beaucoup Ă  voir et Ă  faire dans la rĂ©gion, mais la principale joie des vacances ici est d'ĂȘtre Ă  la maison avec la famille et les amis.

Beautiful house with amazing gardens. There were even horses and sheep in the paddock next to the house. Host had supplied lots of extras too. Any communication with the host was responded to quickly and helpfully. Would 100% recommend the property.

Eine Idylle. Und ein sehr gemĂŒtliches Haus. Wir haben uns alle sehr wohlgefĂŒhlt. Die Vermieter haben wir zwar nicht gesehen, aber sie waren jederzeit per Mail oder telefonisch erreichbar. Optisch schön, aber gewöhnungsbedĂŒrftig ist der Aga-Herd. Mir war nicht bekannt, dass er immer warm ist. Bei kĂ€lterem Wetter in der KĂŒche sicher angenehm. Ich kann das schöne Haus und den riesigen Garten uneingeschrĂ€nkt weiterempfehlen.

Charming cottage in a beautiful location

This is a lovely property set in a stunning location. The garden is beautiful and so peaceful . Our dogs loved it but do be mindful if you have a small breed like ours that the garden is not entirely secure with plenty of gaps for a small dog to get through . Also if you have a water loving pup you may want to keep it away from the top pond or it’ll come out looking like a swamp monster . In all fairness Sallie had warned me about this prior to arrival and the gave instructions on where to find the hose pipe to clean him down . Kitchen is equipped with everything you could need . From pots/pans/ crockery to a variety of condiments ( tea /coffee / sugar /sauces etc ) in the cupboards to tide you over until you can do a shop.Also the Aga was a welcome ( if warm ) addition. No more waiting for the electric oven to heat up . Lovely views from both lounges . The more modern wing looked out over the garden and the older snug looks onto the patio and ponds . As for the bedrooms the beds were very comfortable and again the views from the dual aspect SuperKing room were spectacular. Overall a lovely property . A bit tired in some places but this seemed to add to the charm of the place. Communication from Sallie and Simon was excellent. Nothing was too much trouble for them and any problems we had were quickly resolved. They really are determined to give you the best holiday experience possible and their recommendations in the welcome book were well thought out and helpful .

Beautiful house in a stunning location

This was a return visit following our stay last year (see review 21 May 2024). I am not sure I can add anything to that review other than to say that we had another fabulous stay. This is such a peaceful haven. Simon & Sallie made sure we were comfortable checking up with us without being intrusive. Amazing place

We loved our stay at Shore Breach. Would strongly recommend this comfortable house in an incredible setting. The deer and rabbits on the lawn made it so magical for our children and we were well placed for day trips including Lyme Regis. Great Stay

the property is as the Vrbo description The beds were so comfortable. just to make people aware the property is not fully enclosed as if you have inquisitive dogs as mine are they can get into the wood at the side of the garden over a muddy stream then onto a road and leading to fields with livestock in. The garden is a wonderful size for doge to run around in and the outside hose is a great edition to wash down your pets as we had to do on many occasions. We were visited by a deer one morning in the garden which was great to see and plenty of birds and dragonflies flying around through the day. The property does have all the amenities you require for a comfortable stay and the owners kept in touch but not intrusive with plenty of information in the property books. To make people aware there is no welcome package so please bring a small amount of shopping in to start your first evening and morning. This is the first cottage we have stayed in that did not have a welcome pack or even a small milk in the fridge. The cupboards do have tea coffee and sugar in for you to use along with plenty of condiments. The local shops are just up the road in Honiton (Lydl, Aldi Tesco and Co op)

Peace and tranquility

We have just had two wonderful weeks at Shore breach, even though the weather was not kind to us the holiday was fantastic. The house is in a perfect location, just far enough from the coast to be tranquil with great dog walks just outside the front gate, but close enough to the tourist hot spots to “do stuff” when we fancied it. The house is lovely and we really enjoyed using the AGA, and appreciated the warmth when the weather was bad! The gardens are more mature than the photos show, and the owners have created a haven for wildlife, we were treated to several visits by Deers and foxes as well as water fowl and vivid dragonflies . There are several friendly pubs very close by that do excellent food and a few special restaurants within a half hour drive (which were excellent recommendations by the owners) were real treats. Also to add, the communication with the owner was first class, we were made to feel very welcome and I would recommend Shore Breach as a base for a perfect holiday.

Beautiful house in a stunning location

The property is spacious and very bright. The kitchen is well equipped, large and very functional. The two living rooms are very comfortable with one having access to a patio with lovely views and the other with a cosy fireplace. The bedrooms are very comfortable and again very bright with views across the countryside and garden. The garden is absolutely lovely with the ponds and stream running through the it. We saw lots of wildlife in the garden such as rabbits, deer, buzzards, coots, ducks, bats and various birds. The gardens are bordered by fields in which there were horses and sheep. The garden was a peaceful haven in which to while away the time. There is a main patio area next to the house but also other seating areas located around the garden to give a different perspective. This was a fabulous stay. Our hosts kept in contact to make sure we were OK but were not intrusive in any way. There are some great pubs/restaurants within a short drive and, of course, many tourist attractions in the surrounding East Devon and Dorset countryside and coast although the house and its garden are a holiday in itself.

Wir haben den aussergewöhnlich schönen Garten genossen. Das Haus ist sehr grosszĂŒgig geschnitten und bietet viel Wohnraum. Es handelt sich um ein Ă€lteres Haus mit entsprechendem Mobiliar und Ausstattung. Ein englisches Cottage, dass liebevoll eingerichtet ist. GewöhnungsbedĂŒrftig war die Sauberkeit im Haus. Ev. war es lĂ€nger nicht bewohnt (Spinnweben, Staub, KĂŒchenutensilien).

Splendid isolation!

Had an absolutely amazing time here earlier this month. While browsing Vrbo we were in two minds over whether to go for civilisation or something more tucked-away and peaceful; we had a few options in walking distance of restaurants, bars etc but as soon as we found this the decision was pretty much made for us. It's a gorgeous property, within comfortable driving distance of everything but large and homely enough for you to not really need to go anywhere. The grounds are vast, wonderfully landscaped but not manicured; clearly plenty of thought has been given to the local wildlife, from the ponds to the unmowed fields and patches of lawn left to grow long. We saw rabbits every morning. A baby deer came to snack on the foliage as we took breakfast. Lovely stuff. My family and I (wife, two kids under ten, large dog) have spent the Covid years staying in various Vrbo properties along the south coast and this was comfortably the best. Most of the others have clearly been rental properties, run purely as businesses: a cottage, townhouse or converted farm building stuffed with spare furniture and the bare essentials. This feels like a home — the owners clearly spend time here, and it shows. It's comfy and cosy and the interior design, particularly in the sun room, is spellbinding. We had a terrific time, left feeling thoroughly relaxed and energised, and fully intend on a repeat visit. (I quite fancy it in autumn, particularly if they'll let me have a go on the ride-on mower.)

Lovely country stay

The house was very comfortable, as were the beds. We only slept in the master bedroom. Great to wake up in the morning and see the bunnies on the lawn by the pond. We did use the AGA in the kitchen and the barbecue with coals. We stayed at the end of July and it was rainy most of the time. Enjoyed visiting Lyme Regis by the ocean, Dalwood and the Dalwood vineyard tour and wine tasting. Also Exeter, Axminster, and Darts Farm complex just outside of Exeter. Amazing place to purchase all kinds of gourmet food and items, pastries and to eat at the restaurant. (crowded in August, but we ate outside at the restaurant.) Sallie our host, was very helpful giving us information about the surrounding places to visit and her favorite restaurants. Hix Oyster and Fish House in Lyme Regis was our favorite for amazing seafood-and gluten free. A little tricky to find, but well worth it. The roads from the property and many in Devon, are very narrow. Some are the width of the car. The hedges are high, so it's almost like a tunnel. (others are wider and definitely doable) That said, this is a fact in Devon that we did not realize. All in all, a fun and interesting stay in the Devon region.

Cycling in East Devon

Beautiful garden and stunnjng views. The house was comfortable and had everything we needed. Very quiet,peaceful location great place to chill and relax. We were cycling and would have preferred a few less hills...but luckily we had E Bikes so managed pretty well. Lots of good pubs around for dining and just enjoying a drink . Would definitely recommend 👌

The house and location is beautiful with easy access to the beaches and local shops by car.

Exactly what I wished for in a rural break. The house is beautiful and the garden very large and enclosed for our dogs to run around. The garden itself is very well attended to and the location very rural and peaceful. The house is large and beautiful inside. I do however feel it could have been cleaner as there were cobwebs in one of the wardrobes and the side tables and units could have done with a dust and polish, other than that it was wonderful. I would definitely return for another break. Thank you for a wonderful holiday

Beautiful Location

Good points - great location in absolutely beautiful setting, close to many great amenities like shops, restaurants, beaches in local towns like Honiton, Lyme Regis, and Seaton. Good local pubs near by serving great food. The house is large enough for 8 people and has seating for the same, in dining areas and lounge. The hiuse is well equipped. The gardens are a great area fir the children abd dogs to play and there are many great walks nearby. We had a problem with water pressure on our arrival, which was out of the owners control. On contacting the owners they were fantastic in finding out the cause of the issue and when a solution would be rectified. In deed the issue was solved by late afternoon. So thank you to you both. Bad points - the only issue I had on arrival was the the top shelf of the fridge was full of half used jars of food and condiments. In addition the kitchen cupboards were the same we were expecting a delivery of groceries from a local supermarket but we had nowhere to store it. In the end we cleared the cupboards and fridge and had to place them in the utility room. I noticed there are carbon monoxide alarms but no fire alarms throughout the house I would have brought some had I known. There were a couple of other safety issues, which I discussed with the owners , who confirmed they will sort. Overall the house and gardens are fantastic and we had a great holiday. Simon & Sallie are very attentive hosts without being intrusive. The issues raised would not stop me booking this property again in the future.

Perfect Stay in Devon

My family spent five weeks at ShoreBreach. It was like a little piece of heaven for us. It was peaceful and beautiful, even better than you can tell from the pictures. Everyone loved going for walks and relaxing in the yard and sunroom. The neighbors we met were so friendly and had three sweet dogs. We enjoyed seeing the wildlife., rabbits, deer, a fox, an otter, and lots of birds. The master bedroom was one of my favorite places. The bed was so comfortable and the view of the property from there was wonderful. We really liked learning to use the Aga! Sallie was kind and helpful at every turn. We really hope to come back for a visit some day.

A lovely week

The seven glorious days of sun we had only enhanced what was already a lovely house to stay in. Plenty of room, both inside the property and outside in the wonderful grounds, which encouraged us to spend part of each day, on site. Not happy singing this property's praises and attracting attention, as we'd like to be able to book it again! Thank you so much, Sallie.

Great location

Great location for the family. Lovely setting with lovey views, very restful and very peaceful. Great to have 2 lounges, one for the kids and one for the adults. Beds were really comfortable. Not far from the beaches and great to just walk out the door to walk the dog.

Lovely stay

We had a lovely week in Stockland, a great location for exploring East Devon/ Dorset boarders. Easy access to the main roads and plenty of local welcoming pubs to visit. The house is very comfortable and our dogs had the best time (and didn’t want to leave!) overall a lovely welcoming home which provided us with everything we needed :) Thank you Sallie & Simon

Beautiful house in a stunning location

The house is beautiful with stunning gardens. It's in a fairly secluded area so lovely and peaceful. Really easy to check in and access the house, and everything was ready for us, with everything we needed to feel at home! We were two families with three kids between us, and there was plenty of space for all of us in the house. We had fun making this our home for 10days and attempting to cook all meals on the lovely aga! Sally was so helpful before and during our visit, she provided lots of information about the surrounding areas, with more available in a helpful booklet inside the house, and she was only a phone call away if we needed her. Would definitely recommend!

Beautiful house and location

A lovely, spacious house in a beautiful location with an amazing garden. Very convenient for exploring both Devon and Dorset. Sallie and Simon were both really helpful and responsive. The house was really well equipped and we didn't want for anything during our stay.
