The space
Legacy Farms is a country getaway where you can be as busy as you choose to be. Nestled on 68 acres outside of Hempstead, Texas, USA Legacy Farms is home to agricultural sustainability, family fun and all the creature comforts that you would expect in a well-appointed haven.

As befits a working farm, the landscape is a mix of pastureland dotted with moss-draped oaks and enclosures for sheep and goats. Turkeys, chickens, and ducks stroll about. Collectively, all the animals play roles in the land’s health and sustainability.

Farm experiences are just part of the fun. Legacy Farms is a sprawling playground for youngsters and the young at heart.

When you’re ready to get away from it all, Legacy Farms allows you to set the pace. Relax or reinvigorate. The choice is all yours. . .but the pleasure of hosting you is all ours.

ABOUT
In 2017, our family, who is in the energy business, moved from the Caribbean nation of Trinidad and Tobago to Houston, an industry hub. Three years later, we purchased the land that is the foundation of Legacy Farms, diversifying our portfolio and our life.

Legacy Farms gave us elbow room and a place to put our ideas for sustainable agriculture on the ground. In the process, Mother Nature not only taught our family some valuable lessons in our outdoor classroom but inspired us to share our farm with you.

And because playing is just as important as working hard, we added all the recreational amenities that space would allow. Frankly, we like to have fun. Now, you get to choose how busy—or not—you want to be.

LODGING
At Legacy Farms, we want you to play hard and rest easy. We offer four beautifully furnished options so you and yours have the perfect place to unwind. Each lodging option can be rented individually or collectively thereby allowing us to be able to share this wonderful farming experience with both small and large families or groups. All lodging options are also outfitted with a fully equipped kitchen, private laundry, ample sleeping accommodation, living and dining rooms, gas grills, televisions, satellite wifi, bed linens, towels and ample outdoor recreational space within close proximity to the lodging option chosen.

The Legacy House, Legacy Cottage, and Legacy Barn, located within easy walking distance of one another, form the farm headquarters. The Legacy Cabin, situated near the main entrance, overlooks 20 acres of open pasture and provides ample seclusion.

Legacy Barn

A converted equestrian facility that features apartment-style guest rooms, each with their own television and kitchenette, along the east wall and shared amenities along the west wall. A spacious gathering area is the barn’s central focus, pool table, ice hockey and table tennis, indoor cinema, commercial kitchen, large living area with game tables, office, workout room, media room and virtual golf and card table.

FARM
At Legacy Farm, we do our best to work with Mother Nature and not against her. All our animals do their parts, so our system functions efficiently.

We raise Dorper sheep, which don’t require shearing, and Boer goats, which originated in South Africa and known for their heavy muscles. We also keep a few dairy goats for fresh milk. Our livestock converts grass, hay and grain, which have stored energy from the sun, into high-quality protein.

In much of the world, lamb and goat are the meats that grace most families’ tables. Those global residents who now call Texas home are the base of our growing, niche market.

As the livestock grazes, their manure falls to the ground and provides natural fertilizer. The chickens, ducks and turkeys, help incorporate the waste into the ground as they follow the flocks eating the insects and worms. Because of our eco-system we don’t have a heavy reliance on chemical fertilizers or pesticides and our use of livestock pharmaceuticals is minimized. And of course, our birds produce protein in the form of eggs as well.

Our German Shepherds represent some of the best bloodlines in the world. Their instincts and keen minds make them working dogs and great family pets.

ACTIVITIES
At Legacy Farms, you can be a farmer for a morning, an afternoon or the entire weekend. Help gather the eggs, feed the flocks, milk the goats and a host of other activities.
