Lovely cottage in amazing area

A lovely cottage with amazing views from all windows. You immediately feel at home in: superbly equipped, comfortable and cosy interior, quiet and a perfect location for exploring the peninsula. Even without taking the car, you can make great accessible hikes. The owners are very kind and attentive. I can't wait to go back for longer!

A Comfortable Home Base to Explore the Snaefellsbaer Peninsula

My wife and I spent four nights in this duplex cottage in the town of Hellnar on the Snaefellsbaer Peninsula. We were greeted by an amazing display of the Northern Lights on our first night. The place was comfortable and quiet and had all the amenities needed to feel like home for a few days. The views are stunning--the sea in one direction and mountains and the volcano that dominates the west end of the peninsula in the other. There are several little places to eat within a 5-10 minutes drive and even more if you're willing to drive 30-45 minutes. Two things to note. First, all the bedrooms are upstairs and the staircase (really more like a ladder) is very steep--going up isn't too bad, but coming down can be a little scary. Second, the bathroom is tight. We adapted and it was fine. Overall, the home was a great place to explore the Snaefellsbaer Peninsula.

Heavenly Northern Lights Stay

A wonderful experience

My wife and I have just returned from an 8 day stay in this delightful property. The cottage itself is spotless and well appointed; the furniture in the sitting area is very comfortable, as is the dining area; the kitchen is well equipped, with a very good selection of dishes, glassware, pots and pans etc. All appliances ( range, oven, dishwasher, washer, dryer, microwave) are modern and in good order. Some rather steep stairs lead to three bedrooms and a cosy sitting area upstairs. The beds and bedding are high quality and extremely comfortable. As this trip was my fifth to Iceland, we felt no need to be on the move and change locations. It was a real treat to spend the entire trip exploring the Snaefellsness Peninsula in depth. We were out and active each day, and agreed that the coastal hikes were ( for us) best enjoyed in inclement weather
.it seemed to suit the drama of the landscape. This is simply a wonderful region. Communication with the host was clear and efficient, the check in and out procedures were well explained, and we both agreed that this was one of our favourite trips. Highly recommended !

Wonderful stay in Hellnar!

From the moment we arrived, we felt at home. It was comfortable and peaceful. We had everything we needed and it was a calming and comfortable base to explore this beautiful & awe-inspiring area of Iceland. It was also the perfect home in which to sit with a coffee, listen to music, put together a puzzle, and spend time relaxing with my family. I recommend it highly!

peaceful spot for exploring snaefelsness

we enjoyed the area, it is breathtaking and you can do great hikes at the coast and into the mountains. the house has everything you need and is really spacious. do not forget to visit the cafe on the Hellnar coast, which serves delicious homemade bread and cakes.

Great Stay

The stay we had was just what the doctor ordered. This was not a leisure trip, but my mom lives in Olafsvik, and not well. So we drove there daily during our stay. The cottage is very clean, and well equipped. Location was amazing!!

Hellnar Cottage

The cottage was perfect for our stay in Snaefellnes Pennisula. The cottage was spacious, clean, and contained everything we needed. The host was very responsive, helpful, and accommodating. The location was beautiful and within an hour’s drive of everything we wanted to see and do (many were within 30 minutes). We would definitely stay here again if given the chance!

Beautiful, peaceful, spacious retreat

We absolutely loved our time here. The full kitchen and extra space was so helpful for our family with children. The location was breathtakingly beautiful and convenient to so many of the area's attractions. The decor inside added to the sense of peace and relaxation. We would love to come back some day!

Great cottage and excellent location

Great cottage located in the Snaefellsnes peninsula with plenty of sites to explore within walking distance. Clean accommodation with all of the amenities and excellent communication from the hosts. Great views from every window. Looking forward to staying here again.

Quiet and Comfortable in a Beautiful Corner of Iceland

We stayed four nights at this well-appointed home, and were sorry to leave. The cottage is spacious, warm, and well-equipped. The location seems really remote, but we were surprised at all the interesting things to see in the area. There is a beautiful cove a ten-minute walk away, a great space to lose yourself watching the waves crash on the rocks. The walk from there to Arnarstapi is lovely, the climb up the Bjarnarfoss waterfall was difficult but well worth the effort, and the drive to other picturesque towns was very manageable. Unfortunately, the weather kept us from seeing or visiting the main feature of the area, the Snaefellsjokull glacier just outside the window, but weather is a gamble anywhere in Iceland. The owner of the cottage was prompt in responding to our messages. The cottage had plenty of towels and blankets, a nice shower, washer and dryer, and a good kitchen. The only potential issue with the cottage is the steep set of stairs to the bedrooms - they are not suitable for people with mobility or balance issues, and we found it too difficult to carry our large bags up to the bedroom. So we left them downstairs and had a wonderful stay. We wouldn't hesitate to return or recommend this cottage to our friends.

Schöne DoppelhaushÀlfte in toller Lage

Im Haus ist alles vorhanden was man braucht. Durch die Lage des Hauses muss man beim Einkaufen an alles denken, denn man nicht mal kurz los gehen um was zu besorgen. DafĂŒr liegt das Haus in dem kleinen Dorf, eine handvoll HĂ€user, aber landschaftlich super schön. Der einzige Nachteil ist, dass man selbst die BettwĂ€sche und HandtĂŒcher waschen muss.

Nettes Ferienhaus in kleiner Ferienhaussiedlung in sehr ruhiger Umgebung

DoppelhaushĂ€lfte eines Ferienhauses am Rand einer kleinen Ferienhaussiedlung erste Reihe fußfrei mit Blick auf den Gletscher sowie zwischen anderen FerienhĂ€usern hindurch Blick aufs Meer. Check-in, Check-out usw. lĂ€uft alles von Remote, da der Vermieter nicht vor Ort, sondern in Reykjavic ist. Reinigung ist komplette Selbst-Reinigung durch die GĂ€ste - das wĂ€re grundsĂ€tzlich nicht unsere erste Wahl gewesen, ist aber von Anfang an deutlich kommuniziert worden und funktioniert grundsĂ€tzlich. Ausstattung mit GlĂ€sern, Geschirr und KĂŒchenutensilien wĂ€re grundsĂ€tzlich erweiterbar, ist aber insgesamt ok.

Perfect space for the peninsula

Loved this spot for our stay on the peninsula. The home was clean and spacious. The views are beautiful and the area is quiet. The kitchen had everything we needed. The only things to know before booking are that you do have to clean the house upon checkout and the timing with laundry etc was a little tricky. Otherwise I would def recommend this!

Iceland family trip

Our family had a fantastic time at the cottage! The accomodations were perfect for a family of 4 and it gave us a relaxing "home away from home". We quickly discovered that the location of the cottage is perfect for exploring the peninsula. Everywhere you go in Iceland is amazing and you could spend an entire week exploring just the peninsula. It is amazing how many historic places are within minutes from the cottage.

Erlebnisreiche Tage am Vulkan

Wir haben uns von der ersten Minute an in diesem schönen Haus sehr wohl gefĂŒhlt. Nette und praktische Einrichtung, wunserschöne Ausblicke auf Meer und Berge- man kann praktisch vom Fenster aus Vögel und mit GlĂŒck vielleicht sogar Wale beobachten! Zu Fuss zum umtosten Klippenstrand ist es nicht weit, und viele schöne Ziele auf Snaefellsnes sind gut zu erreichen. Man muss nur auf viel Wind gefasst sein, wenn man aus der TĂŒr tritt. Die Reinigung und das Waschen/ Trockne der WĂ€sche nimmt einige Zeit in Anspruch, bei der Reiseplanung einplanen! Vielen Dank fĂŒr dei schöne Unterkunft- wir empfehlen sie gern weiter! Angela
