About Life After Five

Located in the sought-after West Beach area of Gulf Shores sits this fantastic beach chalet called Life After Five. Start each day with a cup of coffee and spot dolphins from the sunny deck or spend time soaking up the sun. You will love the unobstructed views with nothing but sand between the home and the Gulf. The colorful sunsets are something you don’t want to miss! Imagine being able to take a few steps down the stairs and fish year-round from this stellar beachfront home!

Inside this beautiful home is an open living area with floor-to-ceiling windows that bring unbeatable views inside. The stunning electric fireplace wall and gorgeous ceilings will make you think you are in a ski chalet in the mountains but in reality, you are sitting on the sugary sands of Gulf Shores! The living area also features plenty of comfortable seating and a large LCD TV. This open space has a dining area with a table for 8 and additional bar seating for 4. The kitchen offers gulf views, cooking essentials, and plenty of counter space. 

Two of the homes' bedrooms are located on the first floor as well as a full bathroom and laundry closet. Bedroom #2  sleeps 2 people in a queen-size bed and has a mounted LCD TV. Bedroom #3 will sleep up to 5 people in 2 queen beds and a daybed, this room also has a mounted TV.

Upstairs is the master bedroom and a small landing area that offers the best views of the house. The master has a king bed, a private full bathroom, and a mounted TV. There is also a private balcony off of the master bedroom. Guests can enjoy starting their day sitting outside sipping on their coffee or ending with a cool cocktail.

Great place

The location can not be beat. Could use some more toilet paper. One roll per bathroom for a 3 night stay was not enough and that's not the sort of thing I want to buy at the store. That and some kitchen basics like salt, pepper, and olive oil. I remember we had to buy all that stuff last year too and throw it all away because we flew in and it feels wasteful every time. This year we had access to the beach equipment in the closet and that was great. Loved it! Highly recommend for time on the beach with friends and family.

Gulf Shores Live after Five

This property has great potential, but the property was run down and not well loved. The house is right next to public beach access, with a large condo building across the street so the beach was crowded. There were several charcoal grills available on the property despite us being told there were none, so that was a pleasant surprise. While we had appliances brrak down during our stay, the property manager was very responsive.

Good location

This home has a practical layout and a good location. We had 4 adults and two kids under the age of 7 and the space was fine. There is no way I would have more than the 6 total even though the listing suggests more. The furnishings were fair. The overall condition of the home needs attention. There were numerous carpet stains, shredded interior doors, a terrible exterior door situation (the kids could not close or open on their own because of swelling) and the decking on the lower level was uneven and rotting. The operation of the television was complicated with no instructions provided. If you are looking for location the home is fine - about a mile and a half from the center of the commercial beach area. New construction was all around, but this is an older home. If you are looking for luxury this is not the listing. Seemed a bit overpriced for the condition.

Wonderful getaway

Even though you aren’t by yourself with a private beach it really feels like it are. This location is in a quiet area that’s not far away from everything. The house is completely amazing. If I had to find one thing that could have been better is the mattresses. They are pretty firm which some people like so to each their own. I would absolutely stay here over and over again!!

Needs a few update

I just love gulf shores. We notice a mouse in home due to different packages where chewed on. We had to put everything in cabinets/refrigerator The couches are breaking down very uncomfortable. The bathroom upstairs mirror cannot see self. Need a roof on porch I loved downstairs bedrooms and bathroom. It was very clean and communication was excellent. Beach view absolutely beautiful. We bought a canvas cover so we could sit outside.

Perfect for reunion with friends

We adored the property. The view was stunning and we walked right out on to the beach. We did get frustrated that there were not certain items on site. Since we flew in it was difficult to pack things that would have made the stay more convenient: blow dryers, beach towels, basic pantry items like salt & pepper. It made for an expensive Walmart visit for just a few days stay. Automated communication to get on to the property was informative. They did not answer some specific questions I DM’d them so I didn’t appreciate that. But we survived. With those specific complaints aside I could not recommend this property more! It was a beautiful house for 5 of us, though it could accommodate more. The decor and furniture was nice! Very clean. Go for the views, if anything. Many moonlit walks were had.

Most fun beach trip we have ever had!

Beautiful views, beautiful house. Perfect beach access, totally worth it. Kitchen is loaded with anything you may need. Beach toys, boogie boards and chairs provided. Lots of outdoor seating with amazing views. The beds could use an upgrade, but to be honest I’ve slept in much worse in hotels or other rentals. We will definitely have a revisit next year!

GREAT Location!!

We really loved the location of the property. The kids loved the fact that we were right on the beach! The only issues we really had---the mattress in the master bedroom was uncomfortable and the two futon couches in the living room were uncomfortable to sit on as well. Some things definitely needed updated / TLC (the balcony outside of the master bedroom was a bit unsafe) but overall everything else was great. Again, the location was the best feature of this house! We were two minutes from downtown and on the Strip where everything happens. Also the property manager was great at communicating and responding to questions and providing accurate answers in a timely manner through text messaging. We will definitely book with Harris Vacation Rentals again! Also a tip to the wise: book directly through Harris---VRBO took out a $500 fee for themselves for doing nothing but listing the property. I just felt this was a small fortune and completely ridiculous.

Not impressed

The beds were very uncomfortable. Especially the king bed upstairs. We left with back and neck pain. There was a very strong mold smell. I understand that there is a lot of moisture in the air close to the gulf but a dehumidifier would do the place wonders. There was paint peeling from the ceiling in multiple places. A lot of the electrical outlets weren't working. This was WAY over priced. For this price, the upkeep should have met or exceeded expectations.
