Gortadrohid near Baltimore West Cork
An exceptionally private waterfront property with over 1/4 mile sea frontage, private slipway and strand set in 24 acres of beautiful unspoilt land, with wild flower meadows and stunning views across Baltimore harbour and Roaringwater Bay. This was the place the couple who owns it dreamed of and thought they would never find - a home by the sea with space to roam, outstanding views on a stunning, causeway linked, island it is tranquil and secluded, but within 10 minutes of Baltimore and 15 minutes of Skibbereen.
There is a mooring by the private slipway and excellent sailing and fishing in Roaring Water Bay as well as many islands and beaches to visit. A network of mown paths run around the land passing through âsecretâ meadows, a small glade and a wildlife pond. There are hares, otters, many different varieties of birds and seals who swim up to the Strand and slipway. Wild flowers from Heather and Gorse to orchids, bluebells and many other inland and coastal flora can be found on the land and shoreline. Breath in the pure fresh air, smell the sea and the honeysuckle, listen to the birds, watch the wildlife and relax in this oasis of nature.
The house was rebuilt in 2015 to Passive House standards and offers beautifully furnished light filled spaces created by the Interior designer owner and there are outstanding views from all the principal rooms. The fabulous 40 foot kitchen is the perfect place to enjoy the company of friends or family with excellent cooking facilities and two terraces, with tables and chairs, either side for al fresco dining.
West Cork is renowned for its superb food and there are 2 Michelin starred restaurants locally, one only 10 minutesâ drive away. There are also wonderful Pubs and restaurants in Baltimore and Skibbereen and fantastic local produce. There are many places to visit and different activities to try, or you may prefer to just enjoy the peaceful beauty, watch the tide and wonder at the breath-taking sunsets.
