The house was very beautiful and clean. It was easy to access and host kept us up to speed on how to access the property and leave. Beautiful views and accessibility out on the porches. The only 2 concerns were that the house address was not correct on Google maps and outside trash cans were too small and could have been emptied a couple times during our week long stay since bears were a concern,

I was disappointed with the “starter pack” of toiletries provided. We had 9 people and the supplies did not match the number of people we paid for. The kitchen was stocked with pots and pans. There were missing pieces of flooring in the kitchen. This could be an issue for small children. We enjoyed the game room upstairs but during the day it would get up to 80 degrees in that room, even with the a/c on. It didn’t cool down on the 3rd floor until 1-2am. Kinda miserable for the folks sleeping in the bedroom up there. We had a hot water issue and were very thankfully for the quick response to that issue. They switched out the hot water heater while we were gone for the day. The house overall suited our needs but seems a little run-down. The bannister in the 3rd floor was a little shaky and the beanbag game was broken.

Diamond In the Rough

The cabin was very clean. We did have a few issues with roaches. Parking was a bit tight as well. The TV’s in the cabin were terrible. The cable system did not work well at all. The first 3 days we had the cabin, we couldn’t use the theater room. Maintenance did come and fix it fairly quickly. The kids did love the game room. The heat in the cabin was uneven. The downstairs was cold and when we turned up the heat to warm the downstairs, the upstairs was roasting. The front desk was very responsive and we appreciated that. I don’t think I will rent this cabin again.

Space in the Great Outdoors

Proactive communications from property management was great. Lots of space for 9 adults and gathering areas. Beautiful scenery & immediate area. Saw 2 bears in resort - no issues at all.

The cabin was beautiful but not very clean

Roaches in the kitchen. Only two small boilers. Hot tub and ceiling fans were dirty. Poor quality, cheap sheets. Stained and torn shower curtain. Brown rocking chair on front porch and not enough chairs for a cabin that large. Crockpot had no knobs on lid or dial Beautiful views of the mountains and great location.

Our Stay at Diamond In The Rough

We had a great time at our cabin! Elks Springs Resort is a beautiful place to stay and well kept. The cabin was bigger than it seemed in the pictures. There was 14 in our group and we had plenty of room for everyone to have their own space. The TV’s are all flat screens also. I thought I would mention that since the photos aren’t updated to show this. The internet was easy to access and worked well. The water pressure was also good. There is one bedroom on the main floor and it has a queen bed and the bathroom can be accessed through the bedroom and the hallway. The upper level bed was uncomfortable but it was a king. Also the movie theatre room and game room are on the top level so it gets noisy. The kitchen did have almost everything we needed to cook with except a whisk and a large pot to boil water. They had 2 large pots but they were to big and the lighting over the stove isn’t that good. The couch’s were all very comfortable. There was some cleaning that needs to be done but nothing to bad. Cabinets need wiped out and everything needs dusted in all the rooms. We had plenty of towels. The washing machine is very loud on the spin cycle so it’s not a good idea to wash close late. I personally think it would be better if the game room and movie theatre room was on the lower level and the bedrooms were on the top level. Sound travels in the cabin and it’s very echoey and the game room sits right over the bedroom on the main level so you can hear everything. Also if you want to use the movie theatre room bring DVD’s or and echo stick or something you can connect to get your movies streamed over to it. We did have an issue with the BBQ grill but it was cleaned and repaired and the maintenance man was very helpful and quick. No big deal. It’s a great place to bring pets and there is plenty of grassy area around for your pet to go. This was our first time staying in a cabin. I’m sure they are all a little noisy. This would not stop us from coming back. I would definitely recommend staying at Diamond In The Rough. I will definitely stay at Elks Spring Resort again but I may get a different cabin just to have a different experience. They have several beautiful cabins.

Smokies escape

Great place to stay for exploring the great smoky mountains. Management was great to work with. Cabins game room and theater was a great way to wind down after a busy day of hiking and exploring. Kitchen had most of the basic items You would need. Tv’s in almost every room though we barely used them. This cabin is 3 stories with the main level a walk in for those who have difficulty using stairs in your party. Wrap around porches were wonderful for watching the fireflies at night. The ground floor did have a multitude of millipedes , though I understand we happened to be visiting when they were migrating. And hey we wanted an authentic smokies experience and we got one. Would definitely rent again.

large cabin with amazing mountain views

From booking to checking out was so easy. Elks Springs kept me well informed throughout our stay via email and text messages. The cabin is big with three levels which is fantastic for large groups. Plenty of space For folks to spread out and do their own thing. The cabin has amazing views, especially from the third floor. Love the rocking chairs on the decks. It was nice to sit with our mom in the evenings outside and watch the sun set. The cabin was clean..... there were no bugs! Plenty of parking for a large group.

Friends and Family and friends with lots of legs

When we arrived, the place was really nice. However was not the cleanest (soap and razor from previous guest in the bathroom) and it had millipedes EVERYWHERE in basement! We called on a few things. They came right away and fixed the small tv in the living room and came the next day to reclean the entire cabin. The cabin overall in really nice with the expectation of the hundreds of millipedes that reappear daily. We just wore our shoes everywhere. So, If you don't have an issue with millipedes you will be fine. The kids, which the youngest is 20, renamed the Diamond in the Rough, to Millipede Manor.

Overall great place to stay

Might consider updating some appliances and supplies like pots and pans and cleaning supplies (broom, etc.). The oven broke during our stay and we ended up not being able to use a lot of our groceries. Otherwise was a beautiful place.
