One of the best things about this traditional farmhouse holiday cottage is arriving. You climb up from the harbour town of Porthmadog into the beautiful Cwm Ystrad Llyn valley. As you turn onto a private road and cross the brow of a small hill, a wonderful panoramic view opens out in front of you. Cwm-Mawr, the only cottage in sight, offers a unique, true escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Once parked, we enter the cottage via a side door. A small entrance hall opens out onto a large kitchen diner. Every bit the traditional farmhouse kitchen, this space is the heart of the house. The large dining table helps to create that sociable space perfect for family get-togethers. A small door leading off the kitchen brings us to a generous utility room and a convenient ground floor bathroom complete with walk in (wet room) shower.
We return to the kitchen before opening another door onto the lounge. Again, a very traditional room with two large sofas facing onto a real fire set within an inglenook fireplace. A deep-set window to the left overlooks a small lawned area with picnic bench. A second living room provides more seating. The absence of a TV in here makes the room a perfect retreat for anyone wanting to catch up on some reading or have a quiet doze.
There are three bedrooms upstairs, two doubles and a super-king or twin depending on what suits your group, ensuring the cottage can comfortably sleep up to 6 guests. All the bedrooms are very bright, airy and tastefully furnished. And all enjoy fantastic views of the surrounding countryside. A central family bathroom includes a WC, washbasin, large enamelled bath and a shower.
Weâre happy to welcome a well-behaved dog! Please keep them supervised at all times and donât leave them unattended. To keep the space comfy for everyone, we kindly ask that they stay off the furniture and out of the bedrooms.
Feel free to bring their favourite bed, blanket, and anything else to make them feel at home!
Please also note that the garden is not enclosed.

The cottage is accessed via a farm track. Regular family saloon cars navigate it without issue, but it may not be ideal for very low-clearance vehicles.
The buildings attached to the house are farm storage spaces. Their use varies depending on the season and ongoing farm work, so occasional activity around them is to be expected.
