On The Half Shell is a stately home situated walking distance to the beach, in a quiet area of the island within a Maritime Forest of Folly Island. Only 3 blocks from the downtown area of Folly Beach and an easy walk or golf cart drive to the beach and Folly pier. Boasting quintessential southern charm, this home has double, full-length verandas and a classic screen porch where you can relax with a cup of coffee or a cool beverage while taking in the sea air.

The welcoming appeal of this low country beach home is accented by a solid mahogany front door, a wide foyer invites you into the open floor plan where you find a nice size family room, dining area and a beautiful kitchen. In the kitchen, you have quartz countertops, Shaker-style white cabinets, stainless steel appliances: gas cooktop, double ovens, microwave and a new refrigerator. Kitchen is fully stocked with cookware, small appliances, and serveware to prepare and serve meals easily to your entire family.

This 5 bedroom, 3.5 bath home has luxury vinyl floors and ample windows for natural light. A large screened in porch offers plenty of comfortable seating for gathering after a day on the beach and table for dining or playing games. An outdoor shower and gas grill will help to extend your time enjoying the outdoors.

The first floor features a large master bedroom with a king bed, walk-in closet and private, ensuite bathroom with dual vanities, garden tub and separate, standing shower. The large laundry room has a deep sink, second refrigerator, and pull-down ironing board. Half bathroom is conveniently located towards the entry of the home.

Upstairs you have 4 bedrooms with two full bathrooms. The first queen bedroom has its own private ensuite bath with a walk-in closet. Guest bedrooms 3 and 5 both have one queen bed. Two twin beds for singles or the kiddos are furnished in guest bedroom 4. All bedrooms come with high-end linens, as well as bath towels provided for the maximum occupancy of the home.

Folly Beach downtown area is just 0.4 miles away. Wander through local shops, markets (seasonal & holidays), listen to live entertainment, and eat at one of our local restaurants. All restaurants and shops are open year-round. Get out on the water to take a fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding, shelling, or dolphin watching tour from a licensed guide. Surfing lessons are available through several companies and instructors. Stroll down the Folly Beach Pier on Center Street, or find the local and tourist favorite Morris Island Lighthouse beach at the far east end of the island for wow-worthy photos!

Just a short, 25-minute drive will take you into historical, downtown Charleston to enjoy all of the charm that the Holy City has to offer. Experience world-class dining, art galleries, explore swanky boutiques, souvenir shopping along The Market, harbor views from The Battery and Waterfront Park, theater, comedy clubs, museums, grand churches, history, carriage and ghost tours, plus so much more! Take the kids to the Children's Museum and the South Carolina Aquarium. Float on a ferry to Fort Sumpter where you can spend a whole afternoon. Customize your memorable trip to this historical city to immerse yourself and the family in the Southern culture.

Parking for up to 5 vehicles is free in the double driveway areas. Check-in is 4:00pm and check out is 10:00am.

On The Half Shell includes many perks to make your vacation one of luxury and ease. Amenities include free Wi-Fi, cable TV, keyless entry, contactless check-in, central heat and A/C, gas grill, outdoor shower, stainless steel appliances, and VayK Life beach gear credit. Fresh linens and towels are provided for the maximum occupancy of the home. A starter supply of toiletries will be provided. Home is non-smoking and is not pet-friendly. No events allowed that exceed the maximum occupancy of the home, regardless of sleeping or visiting. Must be 25 years old or older to rent, no exceptions. **HOUSE SUPPLIES**
This property is managed by a property management group. We provide a complimentary starter amenity kit to get you settled. Guests are responsible for replenishing supplies as needed during their stay.
Two rolls of paper towels, 1 sponge, 1 dishwashing liquid, 3 trash bags, 3 dishwasher tabs, and 2 kitchen towels in the kitchen. Each bathroom will have 2 toilet paper rolls and at least 1 bar of soap. Full bathrooms additionally include kits with travel size products: 1 shampoo, 1 conditioner, 1 lotion bottle, and 2 makeup wipes.

Southern Charm at the Beach

We spent a week in mid june at this lovely southern style house. It is tastfully furnished, clean and well appointed. The location is close to both the beach and town. We had nine adults and one child and there was plenty of room for everyone. Highly recommend this property.

Very nice house near the beach

We enjoyed our stay. The house was spacious and clean. The property management company was responsive when we had questions. We are likely to stay here again if we return to Folly Beach.

On the half shell

Property was beautiful. Noticed first day Ice/water on fridge was not working. Called and didn’t get a response til Day 3. Their delayed response was due to answering service provided wrong address (really?). Master bath shower had an issue with the hand head issue. It kept falling out of the bracket/holder and water would spray all over the place. Unfortunately we didn’t report until the end of our stay and their response was they would relay to property management. One of our party members fell down the stairs. It’s very dangerous because the step colors are the same as the as the floor color. At 6:30 in the AM lighting is poor and colors blended. Suggestion is either runner on the steps or 3x5 rug on the floor. There were comments in guest notes that several other have fell on the stairs

Amazing beach stay!

Great accommodations and super close to great restaurants and the beach! The only downfall was the large amount of mosquito's on the property that lived mainly around the front porch and surrounding plants.

If only they would have let me used the elevator

Unfortunately, I broke my ankle two weeks before our vacation. I couldn’t miss out on this vacation to celebrate our 40th anniversary with our adult children. Once in a lifetime trip. However, it was very inconvenient since I had just had surgery on my leg. Then I found out there was an elevator in this home. Would have been so nice if fate would have intervened and I could use the elevator to get into the house. However, the owner said no way no insurance, even though I was willing to sign a waiver. Would have given this Home a better rating if they could’ve been a little kinder on that issue. The other issue is they give you very limited supplies. Expect you to go to the store and buy all the extra, toilet paper, napkins, paper towels. Also they provide no spices. It’s the little things that make vacations extra nice.

Luxury Near the Sea

Beautiful home !! 4pm check-in is difficult in such a small town !! Part of family ubered so as not to have too many cars. Responsible person rented a car Iin-order to be first to arrive. Could have a TV in at least one bedroom upstairs!! A small supply of paper goods rather than just one in each bathroom & one paper towel in kitchen was inconvenient !! Rapid response to any issue was wonderful !! Thank you for a wonderful vacation !!

The property was very clean and had quality furnishings. Kitchen was stocked with cooking utensils which we found very helpful, and it’s a 3 minute drive from Bert’s. Also the beds were comfortable. We had a great time, would stay again!
