Welcome to The Board and Batten! This cozy 3 BED/1.5 Bath Folly Beach board and batten cottage sleeps 6 guests. A large back porch with plenty of outdoor space can accommodate your entire group! Conveniently located a few minutes from the beach and 8 blocks away from Center Street.

This home is full of Folly charm and offers a fully equipped kitchen with a gas range, oven, dishwasher, microwave and fridge. The living room and kitchen provide tons of light and back views of the Folly River through the large windows and two porches (front, and back) are ideal for enjoying the ocean breeze!

All living spaces and bedrooms are on the main level and the home is perched on one of the highest points of the island. Outside, you will enjoy the full wooded lot filled with ancient oak, magnolia, fig and palm trees that offer plenty of shade and ample parking. There is also a large private outdoor shower with hot and cold water, and laundry room on the ground level. Additionally, you will catch glimpses of the ocean from the front yard and there is a nearby footpath to the beach only steps away.

Folly Beach, or as locals refer to it, The Edge of America, is a laid-back, golf-cart-friendly community with many great restaurants, a booming nightlife, plenty of shopping, water activities, and water tours. For more historic exploring, the famous Downtown Charleston is only a 25 - minute car ride, which offers endless fine dining, shopping, historical sites, and more. There is something for everyone here. We promise you will Folly in love with this beautiful island!

Contactless Check-In: This home offers a keyless entry system, and we will provide the code before your arrival date.
There is plenty of parking in the back lot of the house.
We do not provide beach equipment, but anything available at the property is yours to use.
Check-in time: 4 pm. Check-out time: 10 am.
The Folly Beach noise ordinance is from 10 pm to 8 am.
Pets considered: All pets must be approved by our office before you arrive. Upon approval there is a $150 (plus tax) per pet nonrefundable pet fee that is due before you arrive. If not already on your reservation, it will be added. Once this is done and the fee paid, you will be all set to bring your pet with you (2 pet max, no more than 60 lbs. each, no puppies under 1 year old, no cats).
Emotional support animals, comfort animals, and therapy dogs are not service animals under Title II and Title III of the ADA and are subject to approval and fees prior to arrival.
No smoking is allowed in or outside of the house.
House parties, weddings, functions, events, bands, DJs, etc., are prohibited.
The occupancy can be at most 6 people at any time during your stay.
We require 50% payment at the time of booking. The remaining 50% of your balance will be due 30 days before the check-in date, and we will run the card on file. Bookings within 30 days of your arrival date require full payment at the time of booking.

In that case, we reserve the right to terminate your rental agreement and will require that you vacate the property immediately without a refund. However, we are committed to your and our community's comfort, so please let us know if we can do anything during your stay to make it more enjoyable.

A beach house with character

What a lovely place! Clean and comfortable. Easy walk to the beach. I loved the family photos and letter about the history of the house. You can feel the good vibes. It’s an older beach house but I felt totally at ease there. Loved the kitchen table and view of the marsh from the back deck. It did not come furnished with beach chairs or a hair dryer, so be aware of that if those things are needed. Would stay here again!

Loved the property and location! The deck and porches are the best. Ease to the beach and the fact that it was not too crowded by us adds to property . The twin beds could use replacing or a good mattress cover. But the awesome deck, location, and privacy of the super charming house more than made up for it.

Family Vacation

Location location location. Literally a 5 minute walk to the beach! Back balcony perfect to relax on after a day at the beach. It is a little bit of a walk to restaurants in town but nice that you don’t hear all the noise from the bars. Dog friendly and at a reasonable price. We were able to walk our dog on the beach every morning and he would not want to leave the back balcony. Love that they made entry code something that was easy to remember. Also a quick 25min drive into Charleston. Only complaint is the furniture in the living room could be updated but we hardly use it that area. Only in there during the one day that it rained. Really perfect spot if you enjoy the beach and love traveling with your dog.

808 ashley embodies a true cottage on Folly vibe. Close to the water with views of the marsh was spectacular to enjoy for beach days and plentiful hangs on the porch. Sufficient linens and amenities and space! A bit dated appliances and it’s an old cottage but lovely no-frills vibe.

Great spot and lovely home!

The beach was such a close walk from the house, it was easy to haul our stuff there without taking a car. The house was clean and ready for us upon arrival. Minutes from Folly bars and restaurants if you want to take advantage of that. Would stay here next time if we come to play at Folly again!

Excellent Spot!

This location was perfect for going to the beach! The porch was excellent for outside gatherings, and the outdoor shower was helpful when coming/going to the beach. The beds were incredibly comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked with gadgets (drip coffee maker, blender, toaster, microwave, etc). The natural lighting made us feel like we were in a Nicholas Sparks movie. I would highly recommend this rental!

Nice stay on Folly

The stay was nice. The location is great for access to the beach. The property was a little smaller than we anticipated, but we made good use of the outdoor space to be able to hang out after the kids went to sleep. The property stayed cool which was so refreshing after a day in the sun. No beach towels so make sure you bring them!

Birthday beach getaway

The property had character and charm. The listing felt a bit misleading considering how dated the property was inside. Pros- huge yard for our pup, A/C was awesome and kept the place cool, ceiling fans in all rooms. Cons- with a huge fear of spiders, I saw several inside. Felt dated. Porch area was not cleaned up and filled with leaves, tarp that debris all over it etc

A Perfect 10

Loved the house, loved the location and loved the stay. I especially liked the nod to the family’s heritage and history through the art work and photos. The property had character and everything needed for a comfortable stay. It was a quiet neighborhood with a short walk to the beach easy for our 4 & 5 year olds. There were fresh flowers on the table when we arrived that made for a very nice welcome. I would definitely book this property again.

Perfect beach house!

The house was amazing. Felt like a real beach house and not a newly built rental property. It had character and was such a great home away from home. The outdoor shower was amazing and we loved how the public beach access is literally right outside our front door. Would 10/10 recommend and absolutely plan to rent again!!

Grandma's Cozy Costal Crib

Charming, older home with a beachy vibe. The kitchen gives you the feeling of being at grandma's . Loved the view from all the windows, the sloping floors and all the decor that helped us appreciate the obvious nostalgia the owner feels for this home. House was clean and well stocked and the location is perfect! The only suggestions I could make would be to upgrade to a Keurig coffee maker and provide tissues.

Xmas family time

Nice old house with a lot of character. Close to the beach and downtown shopping/restaurants. Loved the 3 showers and washer/dryer right there. Would recommend it !
