You will love this cottage’s amenities: Hot Tub, Seasonal Fire Pit, Cornhole, Game Room with foosball, dartboard, & card table with board games. Also enjoy the covered porch & two decks for wildlife viewing (deer & turkey are regulars and in summer fireflies too. Gourmet Kitchen. 2 Spa like baths with custom tiled showers & Bluetooth speakers. Smart TVs. We are pet friendly (See details below for pets).

Peaceful and Serene

The Cardinal Cottage was an awesome escape. It had all we needed in a beautiful location. We loved the privacy, peace, and the views of deer, turkeys, and birds. The hot tub was a great bonus for warmth (though the jets could use a little TLC). We really appreciated the pet-friendly and clean environment! Cardinal Cottage is a Winner!

Awesome property! Bright and fresh with lots of natural light. Beautiful large kitchen with plenty of cookware and dishes. We appreciated the gate at the deck stairs so we could relax in the hot tub without worrying that our fur baby would wander off. Convenient to the New River Gorge area.

Family vacation to explore the New River Gorge

We stayed with our 2 young kids and dog and came to explore the New River Gorge National Park. The location was perfect and close to the Gorge, visitor center, and minutes from the Endless Wall Trail! We enjoyed a fire in the fire pit and watching the sun set from the property. The kitchen was well equipped and had a very nice gas range! We had a great stay and the Gorge offered spectacular views from the trails and overlooks.

Lovely stay in a winter wonderland!

My husband, pup, and I stayed here a few nights after the new year. The cabin was such a lovely place to watch the snowfalls. We also loved bird watching and seeing the deer. Kitchen was well-stocked so we stayed put, relaxing and playing games. Thank you for a relaxing start to 2025!

Wonderful place to Stay

We really enjoyed our stay at this house. It was super clean and met all our families needs and wants. The hot tub was very clean and a nice addition to our stay. Beds were comfy and we had everything we needed in the kitchen. Thank you to the owner who even decorated for Christmas as we were having a Christmas get together with our son and his family, and the house was just perfect! Our grandson loved the game room. You will not be disappointed with this rental!

Lovely property with great assets

We’ve stayed there two years in a row to celebrate Thanksgiving with friends. The kitchen is perfect for cooking large meals and well stocked with cooking equipment. The dining room table is placed in front of a row of windows that provide a lovely view of woods. We love the back porch which looks out over woods and large grassy areas. We saw lots of deer. The bedrooms are simple but warm, with the perfect amount of hooks and drawers to easily unpack. The layout of the bedrooms and bathrooms are well situated to provide privacy, especially since the house isn’t particularly large. We had a manual wheelchair user in our party and he was able to get up on the front porch and into the house easily with a small portable ramp we brought. After that he could access the rest of the house and back porch. There’s also a separate game room and hot tub, but we didn’t use those. We were too busy cooking and eating and working a puzzle in the Cosy common space. We really enjoyed this house for the four of us. It could easily handle a couple more people and still be comfortable.

What a neat place to stay, everything was very clean. Very close to hiking trails. We got to see the northern lights and a meteor shower while sitting in the hot tub our second night. Also got to see a bear along the road when headed to town. Host was super quick to respond to some questions we had. Game room is a nice bonus as well. Will stay here again.

Peaceful retreat

We truly enjoyed staying at this property. The location is perfect for exploration of the Canyon rim area and for excursions for rafting and exploration of the local town of Fayetteville. The property is on several acres with a beautiful pasture. Tons of wildlife to include deer, turkeys, and rabbits. We truly enjoyed every morning and evening, watching all of the Wildlife enjoying the peace of the backyard The evenings were made more enjoyable with the hot tub The property manager and owner was very responsive. If you enjoy small hikes, endless wall is close and highly recommend. West Virginia is an absolutely beautiful area and we cannot wait to return. Thank you we will be back!

Wonderful place to stay

They had everything you needed at the cottage. It was enjoyable to watch the deer, turkeys and bunny from the back deck each day. You are just a short 10-15 minute ride to the New River Gorge Park, which was so convenient for exploring. Not to mention if you forgot to pack something Walmart was only about 15 minutes away. Yes, we had to make two trips to Walmart during our 9 day stay. I suggest stopping at the Secret Sandwich Society for a meal. Their food and service was excellent. We had a wonderful time.

Perfect

Property was even better than advertised! Very clean, close to MANY attractions, quiet, plenty of room for six adults, friendly and responsive owner, and deer are literally there every day laying in the field. Check out the endless wall hike that is very close and you may make friends with a random goat. :) Would highly recommend! Gave my son and I memories that will last forever.

The Cardinal Cottage is very nice and comfortable!

We forgot to write in the journal but there were 3 adults and our Westie who stayed in the cottage. We loved seeing all the deer and turkeys in the area. Our family reunion was at Adventures on the Gorge and this cottage was only 10 minutes away from all the family and activities. It worked out great! Thanks again for a great stay!

Happily Exhausted

Everyday was an adventure for our group of two couples from NJ who travel together every year. Biking (downhill was the best!), eating out at Gaines Estates and other local restaurants, grilling in, boating, and more biking were some of the highlights of our trip. We were all able to get a good night sleep for each of the five nights of our stay. The wildlife in the backyard was a bonus. Kitchen was well-stocked! Wild and wonderful time. We love West Virginia.

Fantastic stay for New River Gorge National Park!

Our group loved this property for our visit to New River Gorge National Park. Great location. Property has a lot of personality. Communication with the host was excellent throughout. We enjoyed the large dining room table and living room sofa, as well as the hot tub. The two king beds were super comfortable and we slept great. Thanks for a fantastic stay!

West Virginia getaway

We wanted to see the New River Gorge & surrounding area and the Cardinal Cottage was the perfect place to stay. It had everything we needed including 2 king size beds. It was located in a peaceful setting on 11 acres. Our group consisted of 2 couples around 70 yrs old. The house had easy access and the 2 showers in the bathrooms were easy to get into. The owner was super responsive and answered all of our questions. We had a wonderful week!

Outstanding Stay in Every Way

We loved Cardinal Cottage. Location was perfect for all the hiking and sight-seeing we wanted to do. The house was very cute, very clean, and very well stocked. It had everything we needed. Host was extremely responsive. The neighborhood is quiet with glorious trees and some wildlife to observe. We could not have been happier.

The BEST place ever!

If you’re looking to visit West Virginia and/or visiting the New River Gorge, look no further. This beautiful home is remarkable inside and out! Everything from the finishings, comfortable beds, incredible scenery (we had a family of deer visit us multiple times), and the location was absolutely perfect. The hot tub was so wonderful to come home to after a long day. And the Host is so accommodating and thoughtful in every way. We left some clothing behind and they contacted us immediately. I highly recommend staying here for any occasion. I know my friends and I look forward to doing so again in the future!!

Loved our stay

Location was great for visiting New River Gorge. We enjoyed the beautiful property, seen deer every evening along with a beautiful sunset and turkeys in morning. Property had everything we needed to make breakfast each day. We also had a fire every night. The fire pit was great for relaxing and all the outside furniture was clean and in great shape. Bed was comfy and house was nice and quiet. We are already talking about coming back to this property and we never stay the same place twice. We loved it.

Clean & Nice Amenities

I stayed at this house with a group of friends who does an annual trip to the Fayetteville area at least every year. It was very clean and nicely decorated with good quality, bedding/linens, etc.. The general location was nice. It’s a gorgeous area in general, but the house is very close to other houses, so if seclusion is important, know that it is not secluded, however, the way the house is set up with a larger porch facing the game room, fire pit, and a beautiful open meadow, it does feel private when you are out back. The hot tub, fire pit, and string lights really enhance the outdoor space. We loved the large TVs in the living room and bedrooms and enjoyed the high quality kitchen appliances. We probably wouldn’t go back in the winter because we like a fireplace, but we would definitely consider going back in the summer or early fall.

Beautiful, Well-Stocked Cabin in a Killer Location

Every year my girlfriend and my college best friend and his girlfriend go on a “camping” trip - obviously we don’t stay in tents but we do try and find a nice place - this cabin was more than nice, it was freakin’ awesome!! The cabin is in the perfect location - 5min from Endless Wall, 10min from White Water Rafting, 7min from the Bridge (yes that massive bridge!), and 15min from the grocery store but it sits on a beautiful chunk of land and we saw lots of deer and turkeys! The back porch feels wonderfully secluded looking out from the hot tub into the woods although there are neighbors across the street (in the front) but it was no bother. Inside you can tell the hosts completely renovated this property and we loved the look and feel of it - loved the furniture and kitchen! Speaking of the kitchen, it was great to have everything we could need to cook right down to the spices and pans. Also has a grill hooked up to a huge tank outside. We LOVED our stay at the Cardinal Cottage and none of our group wanted to leave as it felt like it became our home away from home for our long weekend. We hope to return again in the future to this beautiful cabin in wonderful West Virginia!
