Home with Amazing Mountain Views on 8 acres - 20 Min to Dgo

NOTE: 4WD/AWD required in winter (December through mid-March). There is a 2nd home on the property 50 yards from the cabin, but there are no shared spaces.

This vacation rental consists of two homes 50 yards apart on the same 8 acre property just 20 minutes (9 miles) to historic downtown Durango and 45 minutes to Purgatory Ski Resort (33 miles) offering privacy and seclusion - yet just mins from downtown Durango and at an elevation of 8,200 feet, always cooler in the summer than downtown. Enjoy an alpine setting with room to roam and exceptional views, while being close to all of the incredible amenities and recreation you come to Durango to experience.

The main house (4 bed, 3 bath) and guest house (2 bed, 1 bath) make for the perfect mountain retreat for large groups or multiple families, giving everyone room to come together or spread out as needed. The main homes features amazing outdoor living space including tons of covered outdoor space with chairs and a dining table as well as a gas fire pit and hiking trails around the property that connect with local trails as well.

The home also features plenty of parking for vehicles and trailers and a great deck off the main living space with expansive views as well as the expected amenities from a luxury home like washer/dryer, WIFI and all TVs are streaming capable (no Cable TV). ATV's cannot be ridden on the property.

Please note that, like most properties in the area, this home does not have AC, as it is uncommon for homes at this elevation. Temperatures inside the property are easily managed by using fans and opening the windows at night when temperatures drop into the 40s.

Home was very well-equipped with just about anything you would need for cooking. Appliances were updated and in relatively good condition. There was a leak in the kitchen faucet where the filter system attached. The issue was addressed immediately by installing a new system because the part to fix it was unavailable. However the leak increased after the new installation. This was taken care of promptly. There were a couple of other issues which had to be remedied after we left due to extensive time commitment to fix.Overall the property was great, especially if you have older children. The kids bedroom was downstairs so it was a bit more difficult for a toddler to be on a different level than the parents and grandparents. The queen bedroom is tiny, so keep that in mind if you need room to move around. There's an abundance of room in the master suite area though.We opted to rent the garage apartment as well even though we didn't need it in order to keep the property private for our family. That's a drawback as I see it.Our hosts were readily available via text and made the issues inconsequential.The views from the balconies are fabulous and the whole area is quiet and serene. The living area, kitchen, and eating areas were spacious. We thoroughly enjoyed our time.

We booked this trip for our youngest 21st birthday. The home was as described and as pictured in the listing. The views are breathtaking. So much so that our oldest proposed on the property. Property was clean and had all the amenities. Very quiet and peaceful!

House and views were beautiful just make sure to not leave any fingerprints or you’ll be charged.

The views are beautiful and the house was nice, our only downfall was we didn’t have enough water for our 5 day stay, so they had to get some hauled out to us. Make sure to bring a mop to mop up any spills, or else they will charge extra cleaning fee for uncleaned floors, also don’t take out to much trash bc that will be included in the cleaning fee. Can’t throw up outside either(due to elevation) bc that will be included since it will show up in snow. Can’t wipe snow and mud off on one of their towels as well to prevent from getting the floors dirty, so be sure to take doormats to wipe feet off after coming in from outside.

Family gathering

We met in Durango to celebrate our son's wedding (which took place on top of Uncompahgre in Aug). We had a get-together with family and friends, and utilized the wonderful outdoor spaces at the house. There are several wonderful seating areas, but our favorite was the fire pit with bench seating (for making s'mores), and the lookout deck for drinking coffee in the mornings. The house is about 20 mins outside Durango, so running to the store is not quick. But, the quiet neighborhood and beautiful scenery made up for that 10x. Highly recommend this beautiful house and guesthouse.

Amazing Home for Family Gathering!

This property was spacious and accommodating for our large group of 11 adults and 2 dogs. The pictures don’t show how large the living space is. The views from the home were spectacular and the property had ample outdoor space to play games and just enjoy. All activities we participated in were nearby and accessible. I would recommend this property to anyone.
