Lovely traditional style hotel in great location

We stayed at another hotel nearby in this collection earlier in the year, so we knew the location was good. The Al Jomrok hotel is a little different as it has rooms that are all internal with corridors running around the building with great views of the souk, the corniche and a small square. They had lots of seating in the corridors which extended the room and gave you extra space to sit. As it is right in the souk it is not possible to drive right up to it, but if you go to the Arumaila they take all your luggage to the other hotels - we did not find this a problem. They don't serve breakfast at the hotel but send you to the Al Bidda which is just behind. Another beautiful hotel, the restaurant used for breakfast is a really lovely room and the breakfast was divine. They catered for all sorts of cuisines to a high quality. They had lovely displays of small jars with fruits, yoghurts, porridges and all sorts of other things. We absolutely loved trying out all the different offerings. I liked the room which were very clean and had lots of wood detailing with good facilities e.g. nice bathroom, coffee making facilities, fridge etc. I can recommend the kebab café just at the back - cheap and tasty. There are lots of cafes, ice cream and proper restaurants all over the souk.

Great location but overcooled

The hotel has a good location by souk Waqif even though cannot be accessed by a taxi (no road or parking is close to the hotel). The room is over cooled even you try to increase the temperature, it seems a central system overrates your thermostat setting and set the temperature to 19 C (less than 67 F) so you have to wear a sweater inside! The rooms in the hotel has no windows!

great stay minus construction

The hotel failed to inform us there would be construction at 7 am our second morning. I wish I would have asked to move. We were only there for the weekend so I thought it would be to short to move rooms. The hotel is beautiful and wonderful. The location is excellent.

Perfect situation

Ideally situated in the Souq and within easy walking distance to all the main attractions in Doha. The room was excellent, the staff were very helpful and friendly, would highly recommend it and if I return, would certainly stay there again.

Life in the Souq

The staff at this hotel give personal service and the location at the Souq Waqif is right in the heart of Doha. The room was comfortable and well appointed. It was easy to get around from the hotel location, but it was also nice to have a terrace restaurant right in the hotel to enjoy the view of the Cornishe and the Museum of Islamic Art. When the underground transit system now under construction is completed, you will be able to travel directly from the airport to the Souq and to this lovely hotel.

The room was so nice I never left. Beautiful interior, amazing bed. Great hotel for a stop over in Doha. They arranged a ride to and from the airport. I had to leave very early in the morning and mentioned it to the front desk. The next morning when I came down at 6:30am they had a cab waiting for me, I didn't have to ask them again.

Nice hotel, easy access to restaurants

It was a nice experience staying in Jomrok, rooms are very comfortable. Only discomfort that i had in my trip was the room air conditioning was not working properly but that was fixed once i complaint about it. Apart from that everything was ok.

Un 10 por su atenciĂłn. Llegamos muy pronto de nuestro vuelo h nos atendieron fenomenal, nos dejaron entrar antes de la hora de check in. La atenciĂłn estupenda y la localizaciĂłn inmejorable, al lado del zoco y de los restaurantes. Muy recomendable. Sin duda sĂ­ volviera a doha me alojarĂ­a en el mismo sitio. El hotel muy limpio, todo impecable.

charming boutique hotel in a lively neighbourhood

the Al Jomrok is one of a handful of boutique hotels around the Souq Waqif. It's a small historic building with 13 rooms. I had a standard room (which is some 20m2, and nowhere near the 38 or 65 mentioned in the description). It had a queen bed, small desk with chair, club seat with small table. There's plenty of room to store clothes etc., a small fridge filled with drinks, and a standard-issue safe. My room had a standard-size flatscreen tv set with a couple of English-language channels (I particularly enjoyed the 24/7 OSN movie and comedy channels). The bathroom is ok, with a nice walk-in shower. My room didn't have any direct outdoor windows - but that didn't bother me that much. There were 2 windows with inside shutters onto what I suppose was once an outdoor corridor, but today the whole hotel is climatized, so they 'closed' the corridor. Sound-proofing of the room left a bit to be desired. Cleanliness was excellent. Reception staff was very helpful and accomodating. --- The Souq Waqif area is ideal to have go out and have a drink or find a restaurant - I can recommend the place around the corner, where locals enjoy a simple kebab stick with some bread. Very good, and cheap! The hotel itself did not have a breakfast area - you need to go to one of the adjacent boutique hotels, or have breakfast in the Souq. --- At the airport, my taxi-driver didn't know the hotel. It's situated more or less opposite the Al Bidda hotel, at the border of the Souq.

Location is ideal for a quick visit

We had a couple of nights in Doha with a short list of things to do, top of which was the Souk and MIA both of which were on the door step. The hotel is clean and functional, the room was very nice. The only drawback was there was no restaurant on site, we had to take a short walk to a sister hotel to get breakfast, which was of course very good too. Should we go back to Doha we would probably return and would have no hesitation in recommending the place to friends.
