"Harmony" Off Grid Solar Power Cabin
Stay in an off-grid cabin and retreat in Maine's Western mountains & lakes region.Complete with wi-fi and solar-powered electricity, this cabin may serve as a great space for finishing that project, book, or research that you feel called to do.
Harmony Cabin is the only cabin on the property that is pet friendly. Please be sure to inquire before bringing your dog, however.
Harmony Cabin has solar-powered electricity and wi-fi. Although we invite our guests to take advantage of an opportunity to unplug from electronics, wi-fi allows you the option to bring your laptop to plug in for a special project you may be working on.
There is no running water at your cabin; however, we do supply you with jugs of pure mountain water, and a compost toilet nearby. There is not a bathroom in the cabin. There is a warm shower at the top of the access road, where you can refill your jugs for drinking, cooking and dishes. This is about a 7 minute hike. Seasonal open-air shower and sink right next door.
We provide the cabin with a 2-burner propane stove for your simple cooking along with all the dishes, utensils, pots/pans, etc. You heat your cabin by wood stove for your tending and we provide ample wood for your stay. This cabin is family friendly, too. Kids thrive here! Kids 8 and under are free and please let us know how many are in your group so we can set up the space accordingly.
IMPORTANT NOTES: You need to provide your own bedding/linens/towels and pillow and we recommend a 20 degree F. rated mummy sleeping bags in fall, winter and early spring.
Mosquito and black fly conditions vary. Peak exposure is between Mother's Day and Father's Day. Dress in light colored and loose clothing and bring your own favorite repellent.
We have a "self-check in" system. We suggest if you have never been here before, please arrive before dark. If you cannot, have a flashlight/headlamp handy upon arrival. Outdoor lighting is minimal or nonexistent, depending on conditions.
The sleeping arrangement options are as follows:
1 full (double) real bed
1 bunk bed
1 small futon for kiddos
Based on availability and advanced booking, you may have the opportunity to add services to your getaway, such as a private wood-fired sauna session or private yoga class.
About the land:
Our Cabin sits on 33 wooded, hillside acres at the base of Pleasant Mountain. We offer private hiking trails, a crystal clear brook with dipping pools and granite sleuths and soaking pools right near by. We have a medicine wheel for a spectacular place to sit with long views of Mount Washington and the White Mountains National Forest. We border Nature Conservancy and Loon Echo Land Trust lands, forever protected from development.
There is a composting toilet nearby (about 50 yards), an outdoor fire circle, picnic table, hammock and outdoor seating on small porch.
Please note there is no running water in the cabin. A seasonal outdoor shower, seasonal outdoor sink and outdoor water refill spigot is available at the nearby Mt Pleasant Lodge. Also, we now have a warm shower for our guests, a hybrid system with solar, wood and propane on demand for limited, mindful usage, located a 7 minute hike up the mountain side at the Pioneer Shower Room.
Amenities include:
private eco-cabin stay
locally roasted organic coffee beans and tea
french press, coffee bean grinder, tea pot
two burner propane stove for simple and basic cooking
solar powered electricity and wi~fi
(please do not bring a hair dryer, crock pot or any other electrical appliances with heating elements~they take too many kilowatts for our small, shared solar powered systems!!!)
kitchen amenities; dishes, pots and pans, utensils, pot holders
hand sanitizer, dish soap, sponges
ice chest for food storage (no ice on site)
wood stove for heating and cooking
fire wood (for indoor fires only), newspaper, kindling, matches

***Please note, you need to provide your own linens and pillow and we recommend 20 degree F. rated mummy sleeping bags in fall, winter & early spring.
Private hiking trails along spring fed mountain brook up to long views of the White Mountains.
We respect our guests' privacy through our self~check in system. There are occasions where the hosts may not be present during your stay, and just a cell phone call away. And during your stay, we may check in with a text or call to be sure you are all set. Our phone number will be in your cabin for you if there is a need.
Rural, countryside destination along a quiet, well~maintained, unpaved road. Forest, mountains, ponds, lakes, rivers, our own spring~fed mountain brook, wildlife, and clear skies.
We feel very remote and rural yet are accessible to nearby villages and towns for your sundries, ice, supplies, groceries, farmers markets, dining and the like.
What we love most about this part of the world is that the landscape, waterways, and mountains are so incredibly beautiful (stunning, really). And amidst the beauty, culture thrives, through art, music, dining and a warm, friendly, safe community of people surrounding this place, making it a getaway that feels like home.
We are grateful we get to share it and call it home, too.
We are part of Maine's Greater Bridgton Lakes Region and the Mount Washington Valley in nearby Conway, New Hampshire, offering a high quality of life, with endless possibilities as a recreational haven.
The air is clean, the water pure, the woods inspiring, the sights breathtaking and the night sky bright with the milky way and shooting stars lighting the way.
If you are a winter traveling, do note, we are 4 miles from Shawnee Peak/Pleasant Mountainski area, which is family friendly and has night skiing as well. Shawnee Peak is actually on Pleasant Mountain, just on the other side of the same mountain where we are located. Also, the snowmobile trail system which is a mile from here makes for great cross country skiing, as does the Brownfield Bog. We are near some pretty amazing ski touring places if you want that experience as well.If you like mountain biking or paddling, we can point you in the right direction for some great excursions. Basically, if you want to get outside and move your bones, we have it here for you, year round, any season and just about any sport.
