When we arrived the AC was not working. Contacted the host, which took over an hr to get a response. Informed him of the issues and he said heâd contact a repair person and let us know right away what the next steps were. We waited another 40 mins with no response from the host. At this point it was over 78 in the rental and 90% humidity. My wife and i made the decision (2hrs since check in) with no information from host of a repair person to fix it, it was not suitable or safe for us and the dog to stay there. We contacted the host to let him know of our decision and asked for a refund. The host responded at 9:41 pm (4 hrs later) with âopening the windows would have cooled the cabin.â This is not the solution we expect when booking a property with air conditioning as an amenity. The host stated they did not feel it was a health or safety concern as they âvisited the cabin the day before with their dog when it was 90 outside and the interior was comfortable.âAfter multiple requests for a refund, the host stated a technician was âavailable soon afterâ we left the property. This is hard to believe as communication would have been received prior to the initial text at 9:41pm. The lack of consideration and accountability by the host was not appreciated. The property did not deliver a key amenity as advertised and we felt a refund should be issued. The host replied stating they are unsympathetic with our request and would not refund anything.
