Cette propriété est située dans la plantation Melrose on the Beach directement sur l'océan. Il y a de superbes vues sur l'océan Atlantique, l'ßle Hilton Head et l'ßle Tybee depuis la plupart des chambres et les multiples vérandas et terrasses.
La maison est sur le parcours de golf conçu par Jack Nicklaus donnant sur le 16e green et le 17e tee.
Il y a 3 suites parentales en bord de mer chacune avec sa propre baignoire jacuzzi. Il y a trois ponts en bord de mer et deux ponts de fairway. Il y a un porche grillagé de la cuisine pour les repas en plein air. La maison a trois espaces de vie séparés et deux buanderies. Il y a un deuxiÚme réfrigérateur pour les aliments supplémentaires et un refroidisseur à vin avec barre humide.
Certaines parties du Melrose Resort restent fermées, y compris l'auberge et le parcours de golf. Le restaurant Beach Club est ouvert. La piscine est également ouverte en saison.
Il y a eu une Ă©rosion de la digue en face de la maison en raison des tempĂȘtes de l'Atlantique, de sorte que la maison est maintenant directement situĂ©e sur la plage qui est Ă  marĂ©e. Parfois, l'eau monte jusqu'Ă  la dalle au niveau de l'ocĂ©an. This beautiful oasis on Daufuskie was the perfect spot for our Spring Break! The inside of the house is very clean and decorated beautifully. There is 3 levels with a living room on each so it is a great value for multiple families who want their own space. All bedrooms have full bathrooms and 3 of the 5 bedrooms have ocean views. Baby gates and a pack n play were provided which helped so much with luggage. The outside was exactly what we wanted to entertain the kids, the beach is full of downed trees that were perfect for climbing and tide pools for hunting creatures. It is not a sandy swimming beach but the property has one of those in each direction, a short golf cart ride away. We enjoyed nights around the fire pit and mornings on the balconies watching wildlife. We saw dolphins and deer every morning. Karla, the house manager, helped us more in preparation for our trip than Google ever could! We took her packing suggestions and island recommendations and had a blast! I recommend Ron at Daufuskie Carts for golf carts and if you have a larger group and don’t want to pay extra for bags and groceries, the private ferry through Island Head was a deal and took the stress off of packing limitations. We will be back!

It was a wonderful weekend! The home and view is absolutely beautiful! The owner and property manager are so great and accommodating! It is refreshing to stay in a rental home that was equipped with so much. They had everything we needed, which is so much different than most rental properties. We found the island to be a magical experience and the house was wonderful. We had 9 children age 4-13 and 7 adults. Everything was great. There are primarily 5 bedrooms and a great room but just a pull out couch. It would have been great to have kings in all the bedrooms but we loved the house. The host Karla was really helpful

Spring Break

The house is as advertised inside. It is large, spacious and comfortable. Kitchen was heavily utilized for our large family and we made a lot of meals, which brings me to Daufuskie itself. This island has never recovered from the hurricane over a decade ago. The listing doesn’t mention that the beach is unusable by the house. There are large downed trees all along the beach and a busted sea wall making fishing almost impossible. The pool is literally sitting on the beach as a large concrete monument to the hurricane. There are two boarded up condemned houses on the beach right next to this house. The pictures on the outside of the house are pre hurricane I believe. Also, this house is not on a golf course. The golf course was abandoned some time ago and it just large areas of overgrown bushes and grass. We had a great time and if you like it quiet and private then this is a great place to stay. You won’t be disappointed with the inside of the house for sure.

50th Birthday with Family!

The stay was awesome! The home is lovely, clean and spacious and there is nothing better than sleeping and enjoying an evening on top of the water (literally). What an oasis! We were all able to unwind! Karla our house manager was very hands on and informative. She made sure our stay was comfortable and we had all the resources needed including transportation while on the island to include golf-karts (Daufuskie Golf-Cart) and transit services to and from the ferry (Daufuskie Transit), caterer (Ms. Ernestine and Fresh off the Dock) and even a local photographer (Cathy). Karla followed up on reservations made by the group and ensured all needs were met. The beach I must say is nice, but due to hurricane erosion we had to set up beach day at our second rental through Tour Daufuskie (rental equipment). This is something to be mindful of when visiting. There are a lot of branches around the house (great pictures) so you have to travel a short distance from the home to take in the beach. While the house, location is nice and quiet, there are plenty of steps leading into and in the house. If you are carrying luggage and food up, please note that you have two flights of stairs and must have able bodies. The 6th bedroom (3rd floor) has a pullout I wouldn’t account for sleeping on it as the mattress is worn and very uncomfortable. This I would advise the homeowner to replace sooner than later (a must). We accounted for this as sleeping space, but unfortunately the mattress was not up to par for even the smallest of our crew to sleep on. We ended up having to use a blow up in this space. May I suggest a total replace or Murphy bed in this area. Other than that, the house is well equipped and convenient to most of the local stores, restaurants and attractions. Ask questions of locals on the island, they are friendly and willing to help. GPS all your travel, or you will get turned around a few times. The island is costly, so make sure you are well equipped $$$, you will need it. There are additional fees and tips associated with almost everything you do. Another bit of advise, if traveling in groups larger than 4, consider a private ferry. We used Captain Jimbo out of Hilton Head (843) 304-3847). He is very personable. Due to our large party we had extra luggage and he was able ti store and transport. This guy is awesome and although he does not live on the island, he educated us. We will return when rates go down!

Our family loved exploring Daufuskie on golfcarts. Top room did not work as bedroom. Sofa bed broken. One person slept on sofa which should have opened. Other than that, the house was good and enjoyable for our family. Our 82 year old had hoped for an elevator but certainly understood its not working! This house is more than oceanfront. It’s over the ocean! Good sleeping. Beach too hard to access for elderly. Washed out pool was center of attention! All told, a very good trip! Ron at Daufuskie Golf carts is the best and very helpful.

Unique and Enjoyable Stay

Visiting Daufuskie is a unique experience, and this house is one of the more unique and fun houses on the island. Currently, the house sits out over the water during high tide. The house has 3 decks on the water, so you have an amazing view of the sunrise most mornings. Carla, the property manager, is great and will help you with everything needed to get to the house as well as anything that comes up. I've stayed at a number of vrbo properties, and she's the most helpful property manager I've worked with. There are not a lot of groceries or restaurants on the island. If you plan out your meals and pack a large cooler, you will be more than fine. The house is very nice, but it is also a great place to disconnect from the outside world and reconnect with family and friends.

One of my favorites

This is an absolute gorgeous property that was perfect for our party of 10. Everyone had their own room and yet we were able to comfortably gather in the kitchen area for games , meals, etc . We walked the beach every morning and evening , which was so nice to be able to do walking right out the door . The views are breathtaking. Wonderful touch that each bathroom has its own supply of shampoo, conditioner and soap ! We planned and prepared our meals beforehand so as not to forget or need anything , which I recommend , as the small general store on the island is limited. All of us had a great time exploring the island on our rental golf carts . The maps were appreciated to find the areas of interest . Karla the manager was very helpful in supplying information on carts, etc. The only downside to vacationing here is the significant expense of getting to the island and transport., . Also pay attention to what’s open on certain days. Thank you for sharing your home with us ! 5/5

The house is lovely - so spacious and was very clean. The outlets had some issues outside for the extension cords which caused some issues with the golf carts. Those cords should be checked as well as the outlets. Otherwise everything about this place is paradise. Thanks for hosting us!

Wonderful family vacation

We had a wonderful week long family vacation, 9 of us total. 4 adults and 5 Kids ranging from 1 to 12 years. Pack in play and high chair came in handy and glad we didn’t have to bring those. The master closet worked great for our 1 year old in the pack in play. Home has plenty of space. 12 yr old had the third floor to himself which he enjoyed. I am interested to see how they are going to move the house from its current location across to the other side of the once golf hole. The house is currently on top of the water, high tide comes under the home. You can see why it must be moved. I’m told they are moving the home this winter. House has everything you need to cook for a large crew. We ate at the house every night. Used the grill a couple of times. Everything functioned perfectly. 2 full size refrigerators, so plenty of room for everything you would bring for a week with a big group. House was very clean and beds were comfortable. The secluded beach, as it’s called, lives up to its name and is a very short golf cart ride. Only a few hundred yards. You could easily walk there but with a 1 yr old, multiple other kids, and all the beach gear the golf carts were a necessity. The house has plenty of beach chairs. There is a beach umbrella that is a little worse for the ware but still functional. They have a skim board and 2 body boards. A few days we were the only ones on the beach. The melrose pool is open and has a daily rate of $12 for adults and $7 for 12 and under. We never used the pool just drove by to check it out one day and I would jog down there in the mornings. Every afternoon we would take a break from the beach and go on a golf cart adventure around the island. Make sure to go to Lucy Bell’s for lunch one day. Go grab a drink at Daufuskie Crab company in the evening and enjoy the sunset and some live music. Go to Daufuskie rum company, the local distillery, for an early afternoon cocktail and maybe pick up a bottle of the blue berry vodka. This mixed with lemonade was a favorite of the group. They usually have two options of mixed drinks, one per person/day. A good “boat drink” to have while continuing your golf cart tour of the island. Also make sure to stop by school grounds coffee for some refreshments. They have frozen lemonade for the kids. Overall wonderful house and we enjoyed our stay on Daufuskie.

Life’s A Beach

We had a fabulous week for our extended family vacation. The house was so nice & so well equipped for our big family:) A few pics on the listing like the golf course near the property & beach at this house aren’t accurate anymore. This golf course hasn’t been functioning for a few years now. The eroded sea wall (and what’s left of the old pool) from probably past storm damage, was surprising to see when we arrived. That probably wouldn’t have deterred us but the info would have been good to know before we arrived. A short golf cart ride to the right or left of this beach house provided beautiful beaches to spend time at. We enjoyed our week on Daufuskie Island!

Large, Well-Appointed and Comfortable Home. A Special Experience

My wife and I stayed in this Daufuskie Island property for 15 days with three other couples. All loved every minute in this large, well-appointed and comfortable home. There was plenty of space for us to be together or for each to find a quiet getaway to read, nap or have a Zoom call. Wifi and high speed internet were accessible and functional throughout the property. It is unfortunate that this Melrose section home is located on a beach that has experienced substantial erosion. However, it was a special experience to sit on any of the many beach-side patios and see hide tides flow beneath the house. Karla, the property manager, was very helpful during our planning stage and always available during our stay, when needed. Without hesitation, we would stay in this property again.
