We had a lovely, relaxing time in this amazing Spanish revival historic home. The second floor one bedroom floor is large and rich in character, with multuple balconies including a cozy main balcony with distant ocean views. We enjoyed a perfect weekend retreat within close walking distance of many shops and restaurants. Truly special!

My stay at the Violet Lantern Spanish revival property was fantastic! The view, ambience, charm, quiet and prime location was outstanding! As one of the few remaining Spanish revival buildings left in Orange County, this apartment reflects the era in its decor and charm. We enjoyed reading about the original builder in the information binder. (Think dark wood, conquistadors and a beautiful fireplace!) While visually appealing, this also meant it was dark and there weren't any lights that were adequate for reading. Luckily I travel with a Kindle. We thoroughly enjoyed the patio and all the Romeo and Juliet balconies off every room in the apartment. While the picture shows the entire building, there are narrow stairs that lead to the upper floor apartment.John was very responsive to our questions at check-in. We were traveling with expensive e-bikes and he made space in his garage for overnight storage, which we greatly appreciated. The area is densely populated and I was delighted that it was very quiet. We never had a problem with the on street parking. We did have to move the car once to accommodate the street sweepers.

Lovely Dana Point getaway

This house is so unique! Very comfortable, loved spending time on the balconies. Lots of stairs, but well worth the views. Everything is walkable from this place with lots of restaurants and activities nearby. Just a note that they do not provide any reserved parking - you are in your own with whatever street parking is available, which can be challenging on busy weekends.

What a wonderful stay we had in Dana Pt. and a big part of that was our VRBO. It was the first time we've ever used VRBO and it was a positive experience. The pictures and description of the property are 100% accurate and the host was very accommodating and answered all our questions (though we didn't have many) and the arrival/departure process was seamless. It really felt like our home away from home for three days. The place was clean, organized and had everything we needed in the kitchen/bedroom/living room/bathroom. Our favorite spot on the property had to be the balcony. Nothing better than sipping on a cup coffee out on the lanai as we planned our day. Another thing that was striking was how quiet and charming the neighborhood was as well as how close to grocery store, restaurants/bars and the Lantern District. All within walking distance and only a 5-minute car ride to Strands Beach Parking. Such a pleasant stay that we both agreed we'd be back and when we do, we will likely stay here again.

Nostalgic So Cal

This was a darling and comfy cottage! The decor & architecture inside and out was classic nostalgic Southern California with a taste of California's historic connections to Mexico. We loved the decor and all the little nooks! The location was very convenient - we were able to easily get to all of our venues in San Clemente, Laguna and Dana Point. Our only criticisms were the lack of parking in the evening and we thought a box of kleenex would be nice. We were also a bit disappointed that the front balcony fountain was not in working order. Other than those things, the property had everything we needed and we would definitely stay again.

Beautiful and close to everything you need

Had a wonderful stay here and loved the house and location. Pretty convenient to everywhere we wanted to go. Great views from our balcony, grill on back balcony, comfortable bed and plenty stocked with kitchen cookware and utensils. Great features and accents throughout were true to history of the home

Wonderful Weekend

Excellent location. Fantastic ambiance. We were in town to celebrate our anniversary and attend a wedding in San Juan Capistrano. Couldn't have picked a better place. We loved everything about it.

A time capsule...I love history...and this place truly took me back in time.. I enjoyed it...parking can be challenging and the stairs a bit edgy..so just be very careful with that .. lovely place indeed.

This 1920's upstairs apartment is spacious with nice outdoor porches having a sea view. Gas fireplace is great. The neighborhood is close to the harbor (5 min drive) and a great base to explore the good restaurant options in Dana Point Lantern district.

Spanish-style apartment in central Dana Point

This apartment is in a historic house and is so cool - the architecture and decor work so well together. Four balconies, including one with ocean views that is large enough for loungers and a fountain. Easy walking distance to PCH, and nice walking distance to the Strand and the harbor. Loved it all!
