Un charmant chalet des annĂ©es 1930 surplombant le lac ÉriĂ©

Profitez d'une vue magnifique sur le lac ÉriĂ©! Ce chalet des annĂ©es 1930 se trouve au sommet d’une banque surplombant le lac et offre un rĂ©pit extraordinaire face Ă  la cohue de la vie urbaine. DĂ©tendez-vous en Ă©coutant les vagues ou en regardant passer les cargos du lac la nuit.

La région regorge de charme, d'amusement et de nature: deux ports à proximité, de magnifiques parcs et plages, 19 ponts couverts, golf, sites d'observation d'oiseaux, points de vue panoramiques, maisons octogonales historiques, 24 établissements vinicoles et de nombreux restaurants - décontracté à raffiné.

Nous sommes nouveaux dans VRBO, mais ne vous inquiĂ©tez pas, vous ne serez pas déçu. Le chalet et les hĂŽtes ont accueilli des dizaines de clients heureux aprĂšs une rĂ©ouverture en 2018. Depuis peu de temps, de nombreux invitĂ©s sont revenus deux ou trois fois avec l’intention de revenir. Rien ne parle plus fort que de rĂ©pĂ©ter des affaires.
Pendant des décennies, ce chalet a été réservé avec des habitués qui avaient des réservations permanentes. Au fur et à mesure que les invités et le propriétaire vieillissaient, la propriété restait bien entretenue, mais ne fut jamais commercialisée et son utilisation diminua. Nous sommes ravis de pouvoir commencer à partager à nouveau cet endroit spécial.

L'Ă©lectricitĂ© et la plomberie ont Ă©tĂ© complĂštement mis Ă  jour; le chauffage et la climatisation sont neufs. De par leur conception, certains meubles d'origine ont Ă©tĂ© conservĂ©s afin de prĂ©server le charme et le caractĂšre d'origine. Dans quelques cas, il y a peut-ĂȘtre un peu trop de caractĂšre alors que nous travaillons avec acharnement Ă  la restauration de certaines piĂšces. Le processus prendra du temps, mais vous constaterez que l'espace est paisible et confortable avec une vue imprenable.

Ce qui manque peut-ĂȘtre au Cottage Goldfinch Cottage, c’est le charme. Nos clients y voient un antidote merveilleux contre le logement stĂ©rile et prĂ©visible qui est trop courant - et ils nous disent que les hĂŽtes sont super aussi! :)

My partner and I enjoyed two nights here; we had a lovely view of the sunset, and then so many stars after night fell! Place was clean; AC, heat, and wifi all worked well. Rick was an excellent host.

Two of the bedrooms the bed didn’t have fitted sheets looked around couldn’t find any. Both front and backdoor the steps were too high to get in and out of easily. But it was a fun time with my sisters.

Our host was wonderful. We were met by one of the cohosts and given a warm welcome. Everything was clean and neat and exactly as described by the VRBO website. Excellent communication from the host who had previously answered all of our questions. Canary Cottage is beautiful and its view of Lake Erie is breathtaking.

We spent a long weekend at the cottage on our first trip to Lake Erie with an 8 year-old and 7 month-old in tow. This cottage was in a quiet location yet only a minute away from a great park and beach area with free parking. I loved the charm of the old cottage and spent a lot of time taking in the view of the lake from the screened in porch. It was clean and the host was great with communicating with us. We would definitely stay here again. It provided for a relaxing trip for us.

Good but not great, cute but not charming

I have sent a very long email to the owner, Rick, about all the problems we had at Canary Cottage. There were things we loved about the place and things that he thinks are “lack of polish,” “charm,” and keeping original character, but in reality are simply run down and needing repaired/replaced. The location and view of Lake Erie is amazing but there is no direct access to the water and no barrier to keep anyone from falling down the steep bank. This could be dangerous for children. There is no dishwasher, no central AC (one large wall unit,) no awnings/gutters/downspouts, no driveway or sidewalk to the front door (because of all the rain the front yard was a swamp,) limited workspace, and too few utensils. The microwave blows out a breaker every time it is turned on – the breaker box is behind the flower picture. The bathtub is so bad that I didn’t even want to stand in it, and clean towels are left out in the open near cooking odors. The hot water tank was not turned on, and the kerosene heater is a fire hazard that should be removed as the electric heater does a great job of heating the porch. We did not see eagles, but we did watch bulk carrier ships pass by. Go see the covered bridges – they are fascinating and each is unique in style. Go to the beautiful public park and beach a mile north and walk the brand new boardwalk, continue to the observation deck. You will have to drive to Ashtabula or Erie to eat out as we only found a few pizza places, McD, and DQ in town.

Great property

We had a great time at the cabin. Right on the lake with beautiful views and everything we needed, and the property manager kept in touch making sure everything was good. Highly recommend and we hope to visit again.

Perfect weekend getaway

Walked in the front door and gasped at the Lake Erie view. Outside, you can hear the waves and watch numerous birds, including bald eagles, fly right by. Rick and his dad are attentive and thoughtful hosts. My husband loves to swim and Rick forwarded lake temperatures ahead of our visit! Public beach is but a mile away. We will be back!

I look forward to this weekend all year and it never disappoints! The view is EVERYTHING! Clean, comfortable cottage lacks nothing. New friends made at the park’s beach and a visit with our known friend, Mr. Ross. I highly recommend this little cottage!

Wonderful, quiet getaway

What a lovely getaway spot! This little house has spectacular views of the lake, and it relaxes you just to sit on the enclosed porch and listen to the waves lap. This place is a throwback to lake cabins of my childhood - not fancy, but very comfortable - except, I should note, with really good wifi for computers and streaming TV. Rick and his dad were super responsive when I asked anything and very unobtrusive the rest of the time, and both check-in and check-out were a breeze. Thanks for a relaxing weekend away.

Cozy quiet cottage with an amazing view of Lake Erie

We volunteered at D-Day event and rented this place due to location. It was nice to be able to walk to the the park and then come back to the cozy cottage. Nice screened in back porch to sit and watch the waves of Lake Erie. The owner looked up the weather, sent the idea of walking to park, had the greatest greeter to welcome us, and had water and treats waiting for us. Couldn’t ask for a better host! The personal details were very thoughtful. Highly recommend and would definitely stay again!
