Before you begin, here are the House Rules ...
Renter must be 25 years of age at time of booking.
No bachelor or bachelorette parties at the property. We have a strict No pets policy, including emotional support animals. Please make alternate arrangements for your pet.
Always use coasters which are located throughout the house on the main level. Most often they are located on table tops.
Steep drop-offs from deck area. Please be cautious on and around outdoor decks. Child supervision required. Deck areas are to be used at your own risk.
No smoking is permitted in or near the house. This includes e-cigarettes, vape devices, marijuana, and traditional tobacco products.
Each bathroom has a vented fan. Please turn on the vent fan each time you bathe or shower.
Do not sit on upholstered fabric with wet bathing suits, clothing, or sandy feet. Sunscreen stains and damages upholstered surfaces. Wet towels and bathing suits should be hung up to dry or put in the dryer. Bathrooms have hooks for hanging towels or they can be dried over the tub/shower areas.
Suitcases should be carried up or down stairs. Roller wheels and dragged bags easily scratch wood floors or pull on the carpet.
This home has a well and septic system so we use 1-ply toilet paper to minimize clogging risk. In addition, only the toilet paper and human waste should be flushed. Each bathroom has a garbage can to dispose of feminine hygiene products, baby or makeup wipes, and bladder control pads or similar items. Diapers should be disposed of in the garbage. Do not flush anything like this down the toilet or there will be a clog for sure!
Please do not clean the stove or oven. If a spill occurs, use a damp paper towel to wipe the surface area. If the stove-top grates must be removed, please move and replace them carefully.
The kitchen counters are marble. The countertops are porous and they can stain or scratch easily. Acidic foods will also negatively impact marble very quickly. Please wipe food and drink spills as quickly as possible with a mild dish detergent and warm water using a soft cloth. Do not scrub with sponges. *Never use vinegar, glass cleaners with ammonia, or any harsh cleaner.
With the exception of birthday candles, do not use or burn any type of open flame candles. The candles located on the main floor are battery operated.
Please stay on pathways and use stairs and when seeking outdoor spaces. The sea boulders and vegetated bluff areas are not to be sat or walked on. The bluff area is fragile and important to maintain its growth and development to protect from erosion.
Turn off the outdoor grill when you're finished grilling and the fire pit when you finish by returning its solid lid cover after the flame has been extinguished and cooled.
Outdoor cushions on all decks upstairs and main level: Blue cushions and should be placed under the eaves outside and adjacent to the windows on the main level facing Lake Michigan. White cushions should be brought inside and placed in the hallway between the exterior door and the bunk bedroom. Portable beach chairs are also available for your use. Return folded beach chairs by placing them under the eves on the main level or under the sunroom on the North side storage room.
Beach fires are not permitted for safety reasons. And our beach area is a shared space with our neighbors. There is a **public beach not far away. Michigan law is clear - a homeowner's beach extends to the water's edge. This section is protected for beach walkers. People are permitted to walk at or near the edge of the water. They are not permitted to bring their belongings and set up for the day on our shared beach. The public beach has signage at the edge of the public access delineating the beginning of private property. Guests are solely responsible for insuring their own property against loss from fire, theft, or damage. Owner is not responsible in any way.
You can enjoy walking the beach in either direction. Please be respectful of other people's property by staying near the water's edge. Seeking rocks and shells is a popular activity for many people.
We have not had problems with theft yet encourage you to lock your vehicle and door to the house. When at the beach, cell phones, portable speakers, tablets, hand held games, or other valuables should not be left unattended when walking on the beach, or taking a break for a snack or meal.
When leaving the house at the end of your stay, please turn off any lights and fans including ceiling fans. Please turn the thermostat to 80 degrees. Ensure all doors are locked when exiting the house.
All Garbage from kitchen and bathrooms should be disposed of in the garbage cans located outside the house near to the parking area.
Please note, wooded and grassy areas may contain poison ivy and ticks. Stay on paths for your own safety.
Legal Rules
We have exterior security cameras to protect our property. Any tampering with cameras will result in a loss of security deposit. Guests agree to act at all times in a manner within the laws of local, state, and national authorities. Any failure to do so will result in immediate eviction and termination of this Agreement without refund.
Guests agree and understand that if this property includes water/lake privileges, the use of the water/lake boats, flotation devices, or any use of water for any reason is at the Guests' sole risk. No warranties are made about safety, reliability or protection of any such supplies or equipment provided or available at the property. Also note, water and wind patterns on Lake Michigan can change quickly. Be aware of changes and move onto land for your personal safety.
No pets are permitted inside or outside the premises at any time.
