Construction Noise
Our area is generally peaceful, but occasional construction noise may be heard during daytime hours from nearby properties. Evenings are typically quiet and serene. Our rates reflect this possibility, and most guests are out exploring beaches, surfing, hiking, or enjoying local adventures during the day.

Access & Stairs
The house is perched on a hillside and features a sloped parking area. We strongly recommend an ATV or 4x4 vehicle. There are stairs leading to the house and a staircase inside, so guests should be comfortable navigating steps.

Families & Safety
While family-friendly, La Casa Corteza is an elevated treehouse-style home with wraparound balconies and significant height off the ground. For this reason, we do not recommend the property for toddlers, crawlers, or children who may be tempted to climb railings.

Utilities in Costa Rica
As in many parts of Costa Rica, temporary power, water, or internet outages can occasionally occur. We have a large backup water tank, LED lanterns, and other essentials to help minimize disruptions. Please note that water pressure is generally lower than what many North American guests may be accustomed to.

Nature & Wildlife
One of the joys of staying at La Casa Corteza is being immersed in Costa Rica's incredible biodiversity. You may encounter monkeys, geckos, crabs, tropical birds, butterflies, and other jungle creatures. At night, moths are often attracted to lights, while geckos help keep insects under control. All beds are equipped with mosquito nets for added comfort.
