Das Hotel an und für sich ist ein gutes Hotel, was die Lage, das Restaurant, das meiste Personal und den schönen Garten angeht. Eher enttäuschend für ein Vierstern-Hotel war das Standard Doppelzimmer, das ich zum Glück allein gebucht hatte. Standard Zimmer sind immer eher klein, doch Zimmer 22 war so eng und vollgestopft, dass der Platz nicht einmal für einen normalen Stuhl sondern nur für einen Holzhocker reichte. Für zwei Nächte gerade erträglich.

I am a repeat visitor as I love the location and spa facilities. This time, my room had no bath, so I was able to upgrade. But to access this room meant walking through the bistro, which I didn't like. The room I was allocated had a wonderful bath, but for a room at this price level, there are inconsistencies that really ought to be addressed. The bath taps wobble about, unsecured at floor level, the curtains to the front are torn very badly, the curtains at the back do not cover the fire alarm unit which flashes red in your eyeline whilst watching the telly. But the primary issue is the noise from the room above. It is an old (beautiful) building and as such you would expect some character creaks, but I heard every step of the occupants above and they were frequent. For a room of this grade, such nuisance is totally unacceptable in my opinion. Some soundproofing work is needed here. A coffee machine would also be preferable to the ground coffee offered which was not particularly nice and left large amounts of grounds in the cup.
I too had issues with the breakfast service, too few staff, not enough coffee, buffet was style over substance, but items were of good quality arriving promptly after ordering. Personally I preferred it when breakfast was served in the bistro, and when the fig was a lovely lounge with fire and papers. This is a quality hotel but the management need to go and look at the rooms and the breakfast to see what we visitors see and instigate upgrades.

Looking forward to a relaxing break.
The hotel ticked all those boxes. The staff were very welcoming . In the bistro the staff were very accomadating to my wife,s dietary requests.
We would return again as and when there is sn offer.
Unable to sample the spa treatments as it was fully booked.
The bedroom lighting was inadequate as was the door furniture.
