The Artist’s House in Céret – Boutique Townhouse with Rooftop Terrace

Wake to the Saturday market setting up under the plane trees, thirty seconds from your
front door, in the little Catalan town that drew Picasso, Braque and Chagall. The Artist’s
House is a four-storey boutique townhouse in the very heart of Céret’s old town — a former
shop, and our much-loved family home for over 25 years — with a rooftop terrace looking
out to the sacred mountain of Canigou.

The house
Full of art, colour and character, the house has been renovated over the years and filled with
original pieces collected locally and on our travels. It has the warmth of a boutique hotel and
the ease of a family home.

Across its four floors you’ll find:
Sleeps 6 — two double bedrooms and a twin room, plus a cot and fold-out bed for
families. With the option to add two extra mattresses for an extra fee.

A well-equipped kitchen and sociable living and dining spaces.

A cosy wood burner for cooler evenings — the heart of the house in autumn and winter
Traditional external shutters that keep the house cool and shaded through the southern summer Free Wi-Fi, smart TV (use your own Netflix etc.), washing machine, and a shopping trolley and bike in the cave

The rooftop terrace
At the top of the house is the bit everyone remembers: a spacious rooftop terrace with a
BBQ and small outdoor kitchen, made for long dinners as the sun goes down over the
rooftops. To the west, the view is dominated by Canigou — the mountain the Catalans call
sacred.
