Further afield, head to Galloway Activity Centre (14 miles) to try your hand at archery or laser tag. Or if you like stargazing, the surrounding Galloway Forest Park is one of the best places in the UK to enjoy the night sky. On a clear night, over 7,000 stars and planets are visible with the naked eye.
