Conveniently located within one mile is the Kure Beach town center, the famous Kure Beach Fishing Pier, Ocean Front Park with special events all year, Jack Mackerelâs Island Seafood, Big Daddyâs Seafood Buffet, and Freddieâs Italian (since 1940). Or walk up the beach a half mile to the Tiki Bar Pier, a great beach bar on the pier with small plate seafood items. The home is within two miles of the NC State Aquarium at Fort Fisher, a civil war site, and about the same distance to the Boardwalk in Carolina Beach with live music, weekly fireworks (in season), and dozens of deep sea fishing boats, restaurants, and stores. For a change of pace, take the 30-minute car Ferry at the southern tip of the island to the charming historic town of Southport where numerous movies have been filmed.
