Sleeping 10 across five bedrooms, the cottage offers generous living areas and a beautiful walled garden where children and pets can roam freely. Ideal for families, friends or special gatherings by the sea in every season together.



The Space:

Step into the laid-back charm of West Cottage by Salt & City Stays, where boho character meets homely comfort. Designed for slow mornings, sea air and time spent together, the cottage blends thoughtful design with a relaxed sense of ease. Hidden doors, vintage finds and cosy corners create a home that feels welcoming from the moment you arrive. Whether you’re gathering in the kitchen after a day at Dunraven Bay or watching the sun dip from the garden, this is a space to unwind, reconnect and exhale.



The cottage sleeps up to 10 guests across five upstairs bedrooms. Two doubles enjoy sea views, two further double bedrooms offer calm and comfortable spaces to retreat, and a twin room is ideal for children or friends sharing. As all bedrooms are located upstairs, the house is not suitable for guests with limited mobility.



At the heart of the home is a well-stocked kitchen centred around the AGA, complete with pantry staples and everything needed to cook for a crowd. A separate utility room includes a dishwasher, washing machine and ample space for drying beach gear and wetsuits after coastal walks.



The living room is made for relaxed evenings, with a TV, DVD player, PlayStation, extensive DVD library and a cupboard full of board games for all ages.



Outside, the large enclosed walled garden is a true highlight — a sun-soaked and secure space where children and pets can roam freely while adults settle into long, unhurried afternoons.



We welcome one small, well-behaved dog and kindly ask that they remain downstairs.



Guest Access:

Guests have full, private access to the entire cottage and the enclosed walled garden, which is equipped with a fire pit, BBQ, picnic bench, and comfortable outdoor seating—ideal for relaxed evenings or sunny afternoons.

Nestled along the picturesque Southerndown Road in the Vale of Glamorgan, West Cottage offers guests an idyllic coastal retreat. Just a short 12-minute walk brings you to the stunning Dunraven Bay, renowned for its golden sands, dramatic cliffs, and the historic ruins of Dunraven Castle. This beach is a favorite for fossil hunting and exploring the walled gardens set just back from the shoreline .



A brief drive leads to Ogmore-by-Sea, where expansive beaches meet the River Ogmore estuary. Here, visitors can explore the ruins of Ogmore Castle and cross the iconic stepping stones that span the river—a delightful adventure for families and history enthusiasts alike .



For those keen on walking, the Wales Coast Path offers breathtaking trails along the Glamorgan Heritage Coast. This stretch is celebrated for its unspoiled beauty, offering panoramic views of the Bristol Channel and opportunities to discover secluded coves and diverse wildlife .

Getting Around:

Car is required. Southerndown is about 40 minutes drive from Cardiff, 15 mins from Bridgend and about 30 minutes from Cardiff Airport



Other Things to Note:

All living areas and bedrooms are on the first floor, accessed via stairs. Please note that the property is not suitable for guests with limited mobility.



Parking is available on-site in a marked bay directly outside the cottage.



Bath towels are included.
