Capitola Village Beach Cottage Living!

Summary:
Location, location, location! Right across from the river walk, a short walk to the beach, village shops, restaurants, cafes, and wine bars. This open space cottage sleeps up to 4 comfortably. There is a SEMI-private sleeping room with a queen bed and pull-out double bed sofa. This quaint cottage includes a full kitchen and a private deck with electric BBQ.
Note, this is an open space room so you will be sleeping in close proximity!

The Space:
The first of two attached cottages. Enter Unit A through the private walk. This unit offers you a private patio with an electric bbq. Enter into the cottage to find an eating area and kitchen that is fully stocked to prepare meals on the vintage stovetop and oven. The bathroom is at the back of the cottage. There is a brand new heater to keep the entire space comfortably warm at night. At the front you will find the living space to include a fold out couch and the attached bedroom that is open to the living room. The living room includes cross seating for games and a tv.

Guest Access:
We will provide you with check in instructions 48 hours before your arrival. There will be a keypad on the front door for easy check in and guests can arrive at their convenience.

The Neighborhood:
This cozy cottage is located right across from the river walk and only a short walk to the beach, village shops, restaurants, cafes, and wine bars. You can take a five-minute walk up to Gayle's Bakery for their signature locally roasted coffee or grab a sweet treat from the case. It is truly the perfect location for central access to all!

Two Units Available, Unit A is also available for rent in this duplex and can be rented out for more space for the family- Ask for details!

Getting Around:
We are in walking distance to the village, the wharf and both beaches.
All parts of Capitola and the surrounding beaches are accessible by bike-bring them with you or secure a rental and enjoy sightseeing on two wheels.

PARKING: Parking can be difficult in Capitola Village! There is only ONE shared private parking space for Units A&B, so parking is not guaranteed. There is public street parking on Bluegum and also a public parking lot across the street on Capitola Avenue. For more information about parking please refer to the City of Capitola's webpage for parking and map information!

Other Things to Note:
We love your furry friends too! Well behaved pets are allowed with a $100 pet fee. Fee must be paid in advance. Pets are not to be left unattended in the property unless in a crate (and only if your pet does not bark in the crate) and under no circumstances are pets allowed on beds or furniture.

There are no daily housekeeping services. The property is cleaned before arrival and after departure. We provide hand soap, dish soap, dish towels, hand towels, bath towels, wash cloths, paper towels and toilet paper. Shampoo and body wash is provided.

Disappointed to say the least.

I’ll start with the positive: the location is unbeatable. Walking distance to capitola village, great path directly across the street along the river towards the beach, absolutely beautiful. The listing was advertised as a one bedroom, which it is not. They created a “bedroom” out of an alcove off the living room. This “bedroom” has curtains to create a separation of space, no wall/door so no real privacy. Our adult daughter ended up going to stay elsewhere because it was so small. The real issue we had though was that there was a foul sewage stench coming up from the kitchen drain making the kitchen completely unusable and seems like a health and safety concern. There was also a terrible ant infestation which again, made the kitchen unusable. The heater did not work. Piles of dog hair and crumbs on the floor from previous guests. When I wrote a message to the property management they were dismissive and unhelpful. I contacted vrbo and complained and they agreed with me that this all was unacceptable and refunded me their fees. I am still waiting to hear from the property management regarding compensation for the inconveniences. They did agree that they fell short and the property needs maintenance and cleaning. Steer clear of this place until they repair the plumbing problem and treat the ant infestation! Aside from these issues it seems like it could be a nice place. Just wish our concerns would have been taken seriously and addressed when we first reported them.

A few days in Capitola

Perfect spot to spend a few days near the beach and Santa Cruz. Walking distance to beach, shops, and quick mountain getaways! Charming and cozy, would stay again.

No place like home

It was outstanding, Sweet Cottage, steps to the Village and a short drive to Gayle’s and Shadowbrook. The only drawback was parking. No provisions for Handicap parking. Otherwise everything was perfect!

Spring break 2025!

We had a great experience!! The short walk to the beach, shops, mini mart, made this a wonderful location. We were able to bring our pups which makes this a perfect family vacation. The property manager was very involved and communicated quickly if we had a question. Definitely recommended!!

Nice location but needs to be cleaned better.

Quaint property in a very busy location. Enjoyed the closeness to downtown Capitola but there is drunken foot traffic late at night. Parking is definitely difficult and/or expensive. House was very cozy and comfortable.

Great location and cute cottage

Walking distance to everything in Capitola. Cottage was clean and check in easy. There is not a lot of privacy. The one bedroom had a shade and curtains. The futon is not very comfortable, but everything else was amazing! Fully stocked kitchen. Would stay here again!

This is a great spot for 2 people, but the apartment, it is a 2 apartment house with a shared wall, is a bit small for 4 people. The listing says there is a bedroom, but it is really a small porch area that was converted into a bed area. The location is awesome, but the parking situation is pretty challenging, especially if you have 2 cars.

Sweet cottage in perfect location

We absolutely loved staying at this cozy spot right in the heart of Capitola Village. It had everything we needed and fit our family of 3 + a pup perfectly. The host was super responsive and all went smoothly. The only drawback is that the hot water smells a bit when you first turn it on. Not sure how you would fix that though. We plan to stay here again!

We had a fabulous stay at this gem in Capitola! Walking distance to downtown, beach, and trails. The cottage was clean and had all amenities you’ll need. The patio was perfect for an afternoon in the sun. We will definitely be back to stay again!

Perfect for our small group

We had 3 people for just a 2 night stay and found this the perfect location. The sleeping area is just the converted living space, so it has the feel of a big sleepover party. Would have been too cramped for more people or if we were spending more time just hanging out at the house, but for us it was perfect. We loved being walking distance to the village shops in Capitola. There is a lovely river walk path that goes down to the village and the beach. We enjoyed the local restaurants, arcade, and shopping, plus walking along the beach. This spot is also easy driving distance into Santa Cruz and other neighborhoods. The lack of a dedicated parking spot was occasionally inconvenient, but wouldn't deter us from booking again. Overall this is a great location for a small group who plans to be out and about most of the day.

Just about perfect

Very happy with everything. I would consider doing it again in the near future. There were some small items that need attention but nothing that would make me not want to return again. It might bother some but not me. Door to bathroom stick a little; kitchen faucet did not swing but had hose so no problem. Easy fix. Worth the money.
