My group consisted of 6 adults.
First off, I cannot say enough positive things about our host, Yves (aka Ivan).Started before even arriving, he would answer ALL (numerous rounds) of my questions in a timely manner. While we were there, he was a FIVE STAR host. Need a bikeâŠjust say the word. Need a taxi, WhatsApp Yves. Need ANYTHING ~ Yves did what he could to accommodate and make it right IMMEDIATELY.He lives on the property, but we rarely saw him.
The location of the villa is a 10-minute walk to town and Natâl Park on a rocky, quiet, safe road. Headlamp/flashlight needed at night as parts are not equipped with street lights. It is also located next to the major highway, which did give us road noise during our stay. However, most times it was able to be overlooked due to activities being enjoyed at the villa.
MAIN HOUSE: There are ceiling fans in each of the bedrooms, but the oscillating fans really made the difference as far as cooling during our sleep at night. The bathrooms were large with a nice shower. Shower had good pressure and hot water immediately. The porch had two fans and was a blessing during the rainy days and most evenings.A few nights the mosquitos were out.
BUNGALOW #1: This bedroom was quite a bit warmer than the main house. I believe due to smaller room, lower ceiling, and less overall air movement allowed.Yves supplied this room with an oscillating fan, which helped immensely keeping my in-laws cooler. The shower pressure in this bathroom was not nearly as strong as the main house and the water temperature was more temperamental as well.Unfortunately, there were no fans on the porch; therefore, making it too hot to sit and enjoy.
We enjoyed the National Park.We did one walking tour with Richard Robinson (HIGHLY recommend him) and many times walked the beach and frolicked in the water.
We walked a few times to Playa Negra, north side of Cahuita. It is a rather long walk but doable if the heat/humidity doesnât bother you.We took surfing lessons from Karina ~ again, highly recommend her as she was very thorough and caring about her clientsâ safety.
Soda Kawe was our go-to place for breakfast.Another fav spot of ours was the Cahuita Natâl Park Hotel & Restaurant. This place is right outside the park with a great view and tasty food.
We took the bus to Puerto Viejo twice.Recommend doing it if you arenât in a hurry as the bus is never on time.
We enjoyed our stay at Villa Mango in Cahuita and would recommend to others.
