There is an abundance of places to visit from stately homes such as Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall, together with many great villages. The adventure park of Alton Towers is well worth a visit, or enjoy visiting caverns, cycling along trails, golf at Buxton or stride out on one of the numerous walks directly from your doorstep.
