The 2-bedroom, 2.5-bath vacation rental cabin in Buena Vista boasts a large wraparound deck with views of the scenic mountain range, surrounded by the sounds of the on-site stream to lull you into a peaceful slumber every night. Plan outings to nearby hiking spots like Mt. Princeton Trailhead or South Cottonwood Trailhead, then return home for a BBQ and board games.

Time in the Rockies

Cabin was well furnished. It had all we needed to be comfortable, kitchen was well stocked with dishes, pans and utensils. The king bed was very comfortable as was the queen upstairs. Only downside for us was the spiral staircase. We managed but, it was rather trecherous for us. Nice and clean.

What a gem on Mount Princeton!!

What a great cozy cabin! What a great location for exploring the Valley and all it has to offer. You are 12 minutes from almost every place that you would need to go! Such a treat to have the the song of creek to sing you to sleep!

Mice

When we arrived the house seemed clean but by midweek mouse excrement was showing up: on counters, in bathrooms, and in the kitchen. Two mice were caught in indoor traps and we found two more live mice in a decorative milk can that we had to deal with. They would run across the floor in front of us when we were sitting or lying down. There were mouse droppings on the nightstand close to my head where I slept. We could hear them making noise behind walls. It got progressively worse through the week. There were numerous traps set inside and out and also ultrasonic mouse repellers plugged into outlets throughout the house. Cal apologized and said they’ve never had a problem with mice and all the traps and repellers were preventative. He came and set out 7 new traps in the house. We considered leaving early but didn’t want to ruin the vacation for our teens & 20’s kids. On our last afternoon Cal offered a hotel room for that night but by that time most of our party were out hiking and it wasn’t feasible to move. We’ve rented vacation homes since the 1990’s and this is the first time I’ve given anything less than 5 stars. We prefer remote country settings, even so, I don't remember ever encountering mice. They are unsanitary, carry disease, and it wasn’t just one but there were numerous, possibly many mice. They were extremely unpleasant to deal with and added a great deal of stress to our vacation, therefore I believe this poor review is fair. Had we known ahead of time we would not have rented this property and others may wish to inquire about this situation before they rent.

Cozy Cabin in the trees

This cozy cabin set in the trees was exactly what you picture a cabin in CO to be. The cabin was clean and well maintained. The owners were absolutely lovely and went above and beyond to make sure your stay was enjoyable. Our son loved it so much he didn’t want to leave. I would highly recommend this property to anyone staying in this area.

Our Favorite Vacation Place

My family has stayed in this cabin many times and it never disappoints. Plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms for our 3 families to stay. We love the secluded location next to the wonderful creek and beautiful view of Mt. Princeton. Always relaxing to sit on the deck to visit with family or just read, sip coffee and take in all the sights and sounds of nature. Our 4 hosts (the Clark's and the Banning's) are the kindest and most accommodating people. We highly recommend our favorite vacation place.

Charming cabin in the woods by a beautiful mountain stream. We had a great hike at Cottonwood Pass and the changing colors of the Aspens were amazing. Thanks Cal for being such a great host!

Cabin was everything as advertised. Location was great. It was a super base camp for us to do all the outdoor activities we wanted to do. Only disappointment was we were not able to hike through the property above us to get to other trails. There may be another way but did not find it.

Lovely anniversary weekend get away

We had a perfect short stay here. Loved our morning coffees and afternoon happy hours on the deck listening to the creek, which was still running in Sept. Very easy check in and it was very well cleaned. Great location with easy access to the Mt Princeton hot springs and the very cute little downtown in Buena Vista. Would definitely recommend.

We had a wonderful time staying at the McCall Cabin, the small stream is amazing, the cabin itself is wonderful, and this was probably the best vacation rental we have ever had in the mountains.

Beautiful Cabin

The cabin was as advertised . Beautiful setting, quiet and safe neighborhood. We had 4 adults and 4 teenagers, plenty of room for everyone to sleep and bathrooms. We went out to ride UTV’s close to most trails ( you will have to trail your rides to trail heads). Cal was so easy to work with, easy check in and out process. Had wonderful vacation!!

Perfect getaway for 2 families!

This cabin is in a great location and was perfect for 2 families of 4 to stay (kids ages 9-14). The sound of the creek was lovely while drinking morning coffee, and there is plenty of space for yard games. The pictures online accurately represent the space. It is rustic with many original details which adds to the charm. Cal was a wonderful host, answering questions before our stay and was very responsive. We would definitely visit this cozy family cabin again.

A great week!

We have rented this home several times over the last few years. It is a great place to get away and it is located at the end of a road in a quite neighborhood. The creek behind the cabin is a peaceful spot and the scenery surrounding the cabin is awesome. The cabin itself was great and served our needs well! The owners of the cabin are kind and gracious hosts who always seek to make our stay enjoyable and help in any way they can. We truly had a blessed week!

Wonderful stay at the McCall Creekside cabin

Stayed at this cabin a few times with friends but this was the first to have it all to my self and my special someone. We had a wonderful time. The cabin was very clean and we had no problems what so ever. Located just far enough away from everyone to get that Colorado solitude yet close to towns and food when you need it. Lots of hiking in the area and fishing. The fall colors this year were amazing. We will be back and most likely be staying even longer next time.
