SEMI-OCEANFRONT Avon – Pamlico Ct. – With ocean to sound views, SECOND WIND AVON will give you the vacation boost you need. This home is located in the idealistic north end of Avon and is a short walk to the beach. Enjoy the salty air on your skin and relax in the seating all around the home. Under the house, enjoy use of the fish cleaning station and outdoor shower. The first level of the home has four of the five bedrooms and the perfect screened-in porch to gather the family. Stream your favorite movie on the TV in the screened-in porch and relax on the couch surrounded by beautiful beachy dĂ©cor. Two queen bedrooms share a Jack-and-Jill style bath, the other two bedrooms, a queen and a bedroom with two singles, share the hall bath.

Upstairs, comfort is at the heart. Choose between various couches and chairs all with spectacular views of the island, most undisturbed by development. Make dinner as the sun sets in the kitchen and choose inside or outside to eat your meal. Inside, choose between the four-seater dining table or the three-seater breakfast bar. Outside, select between either the picnic table under the covered porch, or the uncovered picnic table and get a nice tan while you eat. The final bedroom is on this level. A queen bedroom with a corner desk, perfect for getting quick emails sent off or posting about your vacation to others. All bedrooms have a TV in them.

Les points faibles : Propreté
Elevator is outside. Screened porch roof leaks and saturated everything in that room. Dryer did not work- they replaced on Friday. Furniture dirty and some pieces broken. Ground floor outside light do not work. Kitchen not well stocked.

Family trip

Two 84 yr old parents, three 50+children and two 18+ grandchildren gathered at beach house. House was not elder appropriate. Inside steps too steep. Elevator not convenient and not user friendly. The en suite bathroom had a tub that had very high sides, difficult for 84 yr olds to step into. Other baths were not en suite, more difficult to navigate at night. The dining table sat four. Additional seating a kitchen bar. Couch fairly uncomfortable. Beach access was a narrow winding trail through 100 yards of scrub and cactus needles. We drove to a walk over to access beach so 84 year old parents could walk beach. Very disappointing. The house had fairly good views from living room. Slightly shabby, housekeeping did a fine job. This was a very poor choice for us. House should be listed as very poor beach access. Bring hiking boots and gators for protection from cactus. The VRBO 285$ fee is just a gratuity of some kind. It does not apply towards rental. If you go straight to Surf or Sound web site you can avoid this useless fee. We stay on Hatteras twice a year and have enjoyed stays in lovely homes with easy beach access. This experience has taught me what not to do and additional questions to ask. Would not recommend this home for this kind of group.

Just average

The property was in a wonderful location with views of both Pamlico Sound and the Atlantic Ocean. That was the draw. The huge minuses were the overall cleanliness and upkeep. The place was not dusted for a long time, it was roach infested- owners took the cheap route of placing traps rather than exterminators- door handles literally fell off, the carpet in the main room is stained and does not look like it has been cleaned for a long time. We had to rent sheets and towels which I have never had to do before and when all was said and done it added $200 to my cost. Not only did I have to rent the sheets, but then we had to carry them in bins from the driveway up 2 flights of stairs! I had expected for that price that they would already be in the house waiting. There is an elevator and another set of stairs both of which are not available for use. I will not stay at this location again.
