very nice rental located in a run-down neighborhood

As a former resident of Austin I'm very familiar with the city. Family business called so I rented this vacation rental for 8 nights. The map showed a decent location for my needs. The unit is part of a 4-plex the apartment and is very nice on the interior. Super clean. Comfortable bedding. Decent kitchen and furnishing. Brand new renovation on the interior. While the location is very convenient to central Austin, the immediate neighborhood is blighted. Mattresses, bedding, broken glass, dog poop, etc. line the horseshoe shaped street where the unit is located. Also, a busy train track runs immediately behind the unit. The price was very good for Austin, and had the unit been located in SoCo, it would have rented for double the price. For me, the price was worth the lack of ability to open the blinds to the view. Also, if you are sensitive at all to noise, I would bring ear plugs to block out the train. I got used to it, so it wasn't a problem. Otherwise, no complaints.
