This stretch of Lake Austin is where wake surfers come on purpose. The water running in front of Ski Shore Shak is consistently cited as the calmest and most preferred on the lake for wake surfing, a detail that matters if you're bringing a boat and matters even more if you're planning to rent one. The private two-slip steel dock, with boat lift and jet ski lift, puts that access directly in your hands from the moment you arrive.
The house sits on 200 feet of Lake Austin main-body frontage on 0.34 acres of gently sloping waterfront lawn. Walk straight off the back patio to the water. Swim from the backyard. Sit on the dock at sunset while the wooded hillside across the lake goes dark. This is what Lake Austin access looks like when there is no compromise involved.
Ski Shores Cafe, the lakefront institution that has anchored this stretch of Lake Austin since 1954, is a two-minute walk from the front door. Arrive by boat or on foot. Tacos, margaritas, a full bar, and live music on weekends.

THE MAIN HOUSE
The house is 4,779 square feet across two levels, built in 2007, with step-free entry at the main level.
The great room is the property's signature indoor space. It runs two stories tall with a full wall of floor-to-ceiling windows spanning both levels. Lake Austin fills the view. The gas fireplace anchors the far wall. A large leather sectional faces the water. French doors open to the covered patio beyond, where the lake is twenty feet closer. The room has the volume to hold a large group without anyone feeling crowded, and the view does most of the work.
The kitchen is built around a dramatic floor-to-ceiling arched limestone surround that frames the KitchenAid range. White raised-panel cabinetry runs to the ceiling. Dark absolute granite countertops, warm travertine tile floors, and a wine fridge under the island. The kitchen seats five at the island and flows directly into the dining room, where a farmhouse table seats eight under a black iron chandelier, with Lake Austin and the dock visible through the windows. Total dining capacity between island and dining table is 13 seats indoors.
Upstairs, a second lounge with a large cream sectional, built-in shelving, and a queen murphy bed serves as the movie room, overflow sleeping, and quiet retreat. Smart TVs are available throughout the home.
The game room is the space guests most often mention when they were not expecting it. A custom bar built from a vintage Ford truck tailgate anchors one end. A red felt pool table fills the center. Board games and barstools line the walls. A mounted TV behind the bar. It is a fully realized Texas bar experience inside the house.
The primary suite occupies its own wing on the main level, with French doors to a private lake-view balcony, a jetted soaking tub positioned at the window with direct water views, a walk-in shower, and his-and-her closets. Three additional bedrooms are upstairs, including one with a queen plus twin bunks, well suited for families with kids.
The laundry room is fully equipped with a Whirlpool washer and dryer.
THE OUTDOOR LIVING COMPLEX
The private two-slip steel dock has a boat lift and jet ski lift and an upper deck level with panoramic lake views in both directions. Six teal Acapulco-style chairs and a large cantilever umbrella furnish the dock platform. Swim from the backyard. Paddleboards and kayaks are available for rent at Ski Shores Cafe two minutes away. Boat and jet ski delivery or captained boat service can be arranged directly to your dock.
The covered rear patio has lounge furniture and a white sectional, with the lake visible through the arched stone exterior. The ATX neon sign on the exterior stone facade glows red at night.
The fire pit terrace is built from flagstone around a wood-burning fire pit with a compass rose mosaic inlay: lake-facing, with blue Adirondack chairs and wrought iron railing. This is the gathering spot for evenings on the water.
An outdoor dining area seats eight at a rectangular table adjacent to a large freestanding gas grill in a walled stone courtyard with bamboo screening.
The lawn runs from the house to the water's edge: gently sloped, well-maintained, and wide enough to spread out. Blue Adirondack chairs dot the grass. Palm trees anchor the waterfront.
THE LOCATION
Ski Shore Shak is on Lake Austin's main body in the Oak Shores neighborhood, 30 minutes from downtown Austin, 10 minutes from the nearest HEB on RM 2222, and within reach of everything Austin and the Hill Country have to offer.
Ski Shores Cafe is a 2-minute walk, open since 1954 for burgers, tacos, cold drinks, and lakefront living. County Line on the Lake is 10 minutes for BBQ. Mozart's Coffee Roasters is 20 minutes for coffee and live music over the water. Pennybacker Bridge and its swimming hole below are 10 minutes. Mount Bonnell, the best elevated view of Lake Austin, is 15 minutes. Deep Eddy Pool is 25 minutes. Downtown Austin, the University of Texas, Stubb's, ACL Live at the Moody Theater, and Zilker Park are all within 30 minutes. Circuit of the Americas is 45 to 50 minutes. Jester King Brewery and The Salt Lick BBQ are 40 minutes into the Hill Country. Hamilton Pool Preserve is 45 minutes.
