Host & Stay | The Stable
Summary:
Nestled on the edge of Ashbourne in Derbyshire, The Stable is a beautiful, family friendly holiday let. Youâll have full access to the property during your stay, which includes a welcoming open plan living, kitchen and dining space, two ensuite bedrooms and a separate WC. Boasting private on-site parking and outdoor space with furniture, The Stable is perfect for group staycations, romantic retreats and getaways with friends.
The Space:
Upon entering the property, youâll be welcomed into the light and airy living, kitchen and dining area. Perfect for socialising and relaxing, this space includes two comfy sofas, a log burner, flat screen Smart TV and a round dining table with four velvet chairs. Contemporary in style, it is ultra spacious and perfect for enjoying the quiet countryside surroundings.
A sofa bed sleeping two is available in the living space which can be made up upon request. When made up, this will increase the occupancy of The Stable to six.
The kitchen features a dishwasher, fridge-freezer, kettle, microwave, oven, hob, toaster and cookware so you can make the most of your self-catering stay.
Take the stairs up to the first floor and youâll find the two ensuite bedrooms on offer at The Stable. Both bedrooms boast comfortable king-size beds, bedside drawers and lamps. There are also sloped ceilings to add a somewhat traditional feel to this otherwise modern property. Both rooms really do have a tranquil feel to them.
Clean and modern, the ensuite bathrooms both have a walk-in shower, WC and wash basin. A downstairs WC is also available at The Stable.
Guest Access:
Guests have access to the full property. The keys to The Stable are accessed via a key safe box and full details will be provided prior to check-in.
Ample, private on-site parking is available at The Stable.
The Neighborhood:
Ashbourne is known as 'The Gateway to Dovedale'. While there's no doubt that it's the perfect base if you want to explore the spectacular limestone landscapes of the southern White Peak, it also pays to take a leisurely walking tour around town to immerse yourself in its fascinating history and architecture.
With more than 200 listed buildings - including historic almshouses, fine coaching inns and genteel town houses - Ashbourne is a visual feast for the discerning visitor. Don't miss the splendid facade of the Grade I listed Old Grammar School; the 'longest inn sign in the world' outside The Greenman pub and restaurant; or the beautiful St Oswald's Parish Church with its striking 212 feet high spire, described by classic author George Eliot as the 'finest single spire in England'.
Another highlight is the 17th century mansion, once home to the 'King of Ashbourne', Dr. John Taylor, where Lichfield-born Dr. Samuel Johnson, author of the first-ever English dictionary, was a frequent visitor in the 1700s.
Stable, Ashbourne is a short 10-minute drive from Grangefileds Barn. Hidden among the countryside, Grangefields is in the heart of Derbyshireâs Golden Triangle and a truly beautiful Wedding Venue.
Ashbourne also has some fascinating foodie links. The original recipe for Ashbourne Gingerbread was acquired from French prisoners of war - particularly the personal chef of a captured French general - who were kept in the town during the Napoleonic wars (1799-1815). The timber-framed Gingerbread Shop - now a Birds Bakery - can still be seen in St John Street and the Original Ashbourne Gingerbread can be purchased locally.
Shopping is a pure pleasure thanks to its plethora of small, family-run businesses and weekly open-air market. Browse for fine antiques, quality food and drink, designer fashion and much more, then relax over morning coffee, lunch or afternoon tea in a selection of cafés, inns and tea rooms.
Walkers, cyclists and horse riders will appreciate the fact that the town also sits at the start of the traffic-free Tissington Trail - a green gateway to Dovedale and the Pennine Bridleway, linking up farther north with the popular High Peak Trail.
Getting Around:
Ashbourne is easily accessible by road from the A50, A38, A52 and A515.
Ashbourne itself does not have a railway station. The nearest station can be found 12 miles away in Belper where there are regular direct routes to Derby, Matlock and Nottingham.
Several bus routes can be found operating in Ashbourne. Direct services can be found operating to Belper, Buxton, Derby, Matlock and Uttoxeter.
East Midlands Airport is 34 miles away from Ashbourne.
