Shoreside is one of a row of traditional Victorian terraced houses with panoramic views over Powfoot Beach and the Solway Firth towards the Lake District.
This charming coastal property has been tastefully modernised to offer spacious accommodation for four, while retaining charming period features. The sitting room and master bedroom have uninterrupted sea views taking in the ever-changing scenery and the cosy sitting room also boasts a wood burning stove for those chillier evenings.
The sunny front garden with its spectacular views is the ideal spot for enjoying your breakfast or morning coffee, with the private rear garden ideally positioned for BBQs or al fresco dining in the afternoon and evening sun.
The house is located directly opposite the beach at Powfoot, its expansive stretch of sand and shingle ideal for long walks and a paddle in the Solway.
For top quality food in a lovely setting, Powfoot Hotel and its Del Amitri restaurant is just a short stroll round the corner, while, also within walking distance, Queensberry Bay Holiday Park offers a small convenience store and the dog-friendly, Sandpiper Café.
There is much to do and explore throughout the area with its strong connections to Robert Bruce, King of Scots and Scotland's Bard, Robert Burns - his former home, Mausoleum, favourite âhowff' the Globe Inn and farm, Ellisland, as well as a dedicated Robert Burns Centre, all located in and around Dumfries (15 miles). More Scottish cultural history can be explored at the unique Savings Bank Museum in Ruthwell (5 miles), Annan Museum (4 miles), Caerlaverock Castle (11 miles) and the Devil's Porridge Museum at Eastriggs (9 miles) which tells the story of âthe greatest WW1 munitions factory on earth'.
The great outdoors can be enjoyed on the numerous unspoilt sandy beaches of the Solway Firth. For the adventurous cyclist, sections of the 7 Stanes Mountain Bike Trails can be found at both Ae and Mabie Forests both within a 30-minute drive. For those looking for a more gentle ride there are plenty of quiet country roads to explore. There are superb opportunities for outdoor activities both along the coast and inland where there is a great variety of river walks, a beautiful circular walk around Castle Loch, Lochmaben (13 miles) through to the hilltops around Moffat (24 miles). The area's golf courses offer great variety, from an 18-hole links course at Powfoot itself to the sheltered contrast of Hoddom Castle riverside course (7 miles). The choice of other outdoor activities includes fishing, horse riding, water sports and clay pigeon shooting all of which are within easy reach. A must-visit for wildlife watchers is Caerlaverock Wetland Centre (9 miles)
For younger family members, the nearby Dino Park at Carrutherstown (7 miles) offers prehistoric experiences, Mabie Farm Park and Dalscone in Dumfries offer the opportunity to get up close with animals and have extensive play areas.
If it's a âtipple' you are after then a visit to nearby Annandale Distillery at Annan - Scotland's only single cask single malt whisky distillery - is a must. Its Maltings Coffee Shop is dog friendly, and the menu offers enticing Scottish fayre.
Annan has good amenities with a three-screen cinema, swimming pool and numerous eateries. Also close by is Gretna Green, famous for weddings over the Anvil, with its extensive visitor centre and museum, and for a spot of retail therapy, Gretna is home to Caledonia Park Designer Outlet Village.
