A wonderful in statestaycation with friends. This house is architecturally wonderful and as a group, we fully understand the difficulties in maintaining a property right on the ocean. The home was exceptionally clean, the location, amazing, the staff, we encountered warm and welcoming, comfortable beds and linens.We had everything we needed for a lovely stay. Opening the sliders to the ocean breezes all day and night was a real treat. That being said, guests need to be aware of what salt does to metal. All sliding doors were equipped with sturdy dowels so the Home could be secured when we were not there. As some may have noted the locks do not all work, but that is simply due to the salt environment. It was a joy spending Thanksgiving week at this home.

Amazing property. Fully equipped kitchen. Couple of outlets in bathrooms could use new GFI and 1 ceiling fan don’t operate in a bedroom but that’s all. Great property next time planning on staying here again

We got up each morning around 5:30 and sat on the deck, facing the ocean and tree view, feeling the gentle breeze and comfortable temperature. We watched Venus rise, following by the clouds turning pink and the sun rising. Just beautiful and calming.We had seen the very negative reviews this year and contacted the management company to see what they had done about it. They responded quickly, detailing all the deferred maintenance that had been done, so we kept our reservation. And, once we arrived, we were glad we had.The inside of the home is very spacious, clean, well lit and well ventilated. The three bedrooms and baths were also spacious and well kept. The property is very private and there was virtually no noise coming from outside, except waves and an occasional chicken.Our only difficulty was that some of the sliding doors and screens were very hard or impossible to open. The hot tub came without instructions, but we were able to get help from the management company—being told that the off/on switches didn’t work, but that we should just push the “clean” button to make the jets work. Problem solved. From the photos, we had assumed we could swim in the bay right next to the property, but it appeared that there was an undertow and we found a very safe beach in town.Overall, it is a wonderful and very comfortable retreat and a great place to enjoy Kauai.

We loved our stay at Sandcastles! It is such a beautiful property we wanted to stay another week! The views are amazing, only a few steps and you are on the beach. The location can not be beat. Very private and minutes from Kapa'a town. It is also close to our favorite beach, Anini. Our only suggestion would be some privacy shades in the bathrooms. Still gets a 10 out of 10 from our group!

DO NOT STAY HERE. AWEFUL. RUST EVERYWHERE,ROACHES, DIRTY, EVERYTHING IS FALLING APART. DOORS DONT WORK SCREENS FLY OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT-OVEN DOES NOT WORK, FRIDGE LEAKING WATER-VERY NEGLECTED PROPERTY. PROPERTY MANAGER NON RESPONSIVE-FELT UNSAFE IN THIS HOUSE AS NON OF THE DOORS TO OUTSIDE LOCK OR CLOSE ALL THE WAY. BUGS KEEP COMING IN-MOSQUITOS AS WELL. NO AIR CONDITIONING- NO SCREENS AND NO WORKING DOORS. BASICALLY A SAUNA. AWEFUL, RUINED OUR ENTIRE STAY. EXPOSED ELECTRICAL EVERYWHERE- NOT TO CODE. I DONT KNOW HOW THEY GET AWAY WITH RENTING THIS UNIT. NOT HABITABLE

Outdated and dirty

Doors & windows don't work. All doors held closed with wood rods, locks don't work. Spa maintenance never showed up. Yard guys showed up 2 times early in the morning with no warning. Most lights and switches don't work. Screens fall off of windows and doors. House has alot of water damage and wood rot. Showers and sinks are so old they look dirty. Ice machine doesn't work. Plugs don't work. The mattress and pillows are crushed and flat. The internet router in the master bedrooms shines a bright blue flashing light and you can't stop it. People park on the street and walk through the property right past the master bathroom that has no curtains. Parts of the outside porch are loose and fall through making it unsafe to walk outside. The gutters are clogged and cause water to go into the house. Master bath was so corroded when turned on the jets shot out Black chunks. House had no tissues and barely any toilet paper. Stove randomly turns off

Wonderful Disappointment

This property is in an unbelievably awesome Location. It is unfortunate because the house when it was built was a beautiful house. I would guess early 80's. Now 40 some years later I would say other than an appliance or two nothing else has ever been done to upgrade or update the house. I could go into detail but I don't think that would be helpful. I will put it this way I am a builder in a very affluent resort community, I also property manage quite a few multi million dollar properties. I would not recommend this property at all I rate it as a zero no stars. I had to put one Star for this to post.

Can’t beat the location

We’ve stayed here twice already. It’s an unbeatable location with beach access on a pristine quiet beach. It’s next to a river full of palm trees with a jungle look. The property is huge with a large private lawn/garden. The only ding on this listing is that it’s an outdated beach bungalow. It’s overpriced for the accommodations but we still go back because the location is amazing.

Absolute Paradise

The house was so beautiful and full of love. We found a lot of cute dinner decor in the pantry to make our family meals feel a little more special. The lawn was perfect for cartwheels under the sprinklers. And the beach acess was easy and acessable. Thank you for sharing this wonderful space.

I didn’t want to leave!

The spaciousness of the home was welcoming from the entry and they had Hawaiian music playing and a lovely gift assortment for us with a welcome note that made us all feel special. The walk to the beach is only steps away and between that and the beautifully landscaped yard, I could have stayed there all day. Plenty of kitchen supplies and space for our families needs. We already want to come back to enjoy this home and location more!

Family Christmas trip

We were looking for a place that would accommodate 6 adults and a toddler. This house hit it right on. Loved the location, private beach and how quit it was! Lots of room and space to roam. Don’t worry about snorkel gear they have it along with coolers and a few beach chairs. Great time!

Beautiful sunrises

Beautiful sunrises. On isolated private beach. Large spacious home. Very clean and beds very comfortable Responsive management in Daniel House is a bit tired. Things breaking down, ie screens, appliances. Furniture comfortable but showing some age. 15-20 minute drive to Kapaa and 30 to Princeville. So plan on cooking at home. Kitchen well stocked with utensils, pots and pans.. but not spices or food basics. For Restaurant reservations plan 30 days or more.
