Balam Ek (the mayan Jaguar constellation), originally designed and built by famous architect Jose Luis Moreno, was recently remodeled by another international awarded architect Javier Muñoz. This is a well known house here in Akumal with its lovely outdoor and indoor living areas leading out to the refreshing round swimming pool set in expansive wooden decking overlooking the bay. The perfect spot for sunbathing, alfresco dining, or relaxing under the stars.

Balam Ek sports 3 and a half comfortable air conditioned bedrooms in the main house, and a further bedroom in the casita adjoining the house. The ensuite master bedroom is on the upper floor and is furnished with a king sized bed and has it's own lovely private terrace. The decoration in the ensuite bathroom off this master bedroom is also lovely! There is a small bedroom furnished with a single bed adjoining the master bedroom which is a nice set up for a couple holidaying with a child. The upper guest bedroom is also ensuite and furnished with two queen sized beds and a single bed. This room offers great views over Half Moon Bay and the sparkling Caribbean beyond. The third bedroom in the main house is located on the ground floor with its own private terrace leading out to the pool area. This ensuite bedroom is furnished with a king sized bed which can be separated into 2 single beds if required.

The casita is the perfect place for teens, couples, and members of your group desiring a little more privacy from the main group. This is a fabulous 2 level casita with terraces looking out over the gardens to the ocean and comes complete with a well stocked small kitchen, living and dining areas, and a lovely bedroom on the upper floor furnished with a king sized bed. The casita is cooled by refreshing caribbean trade winds and ceiling fans. There is no air conditioning. One of the most fabulous features of this casita is the ensuite bathroom with it's massive shower room and wonderful outdoor ocean view jacuzzi tub!
