Won't help you if you have a problem

We accidentally booked for 1-4 aug. instead of 1-4 sept. non-refundable.
We paid the full price for the bedroom in advance, and we just noticed our mistake, of course, we asked the hotel to move our booking to 1-4 of sept. as our flights are non refundable, we also made them aware that we're a young couple and our economy doesn't let us get another hotel and we made a very big effort to afford this trip.
Well, they had the AUDACITY to tell us off because "the room has been blocked as per the reservation". TO BE CLEAR, WE DIDN'T CHECK IN, THAT MEANS THEY BASICALLY HAD AN EMPTY ROOM WITH NO GUESTS THAT WAS PAID FOR FREE AND DIDN'T NEED TO BE TAKEN CARE OF, WE LITERALLY GIFTED THEM 250 EUR.
MOREOVER, this new date is low season, so not like they can come off with "we're extremely booked right now" or "the price you paid was lower" and even in that case they could have just make us pay the difference.
We noticed this accidentally, if we had taken our flight to Venice they would have kicked us out.
Can't believe an hotel that calls themselves LGBT+ friendly and stands by hospitality, acceptance and freedom can be so narrow-minded and take advantage of a human mistake that could be fixed easily, like this.
Don't book for this hotel. They will rather steal your money without offering a service back if they have the chance.
