Good hotel on the way to Machu Picchu
Very comfortable hotel. It is about 3 miles/5 KM away from the main attraction of Miraflores and Larcomar. It cost about 8 soles to get from the hotel to these areas. You are also about the same distance to Downtown Lima going the opposite way. If you like the Casino life there is one in the hotel and one on the hotel accross. Breakfast was good. Coffee was the best coffee in town. I will recommend this hotel to the traveler who will like to save. The Inka and Indio Markets are a great place to shop right before you get to the Ovalo of Miraflores between Arequipa and Petit Thouars Avenues. The Magic Circuit of the Water or Parques de Las Aguas is about a mile up from the hotel, it is a great place to see at night time. Right after that is the Estadio Nacional where we saw Peru beat Paraguay 2-0 in the 2014 Brazil Qualifier. Great town. Hotel is very helpful but do not have too much information on the surroundings.

An Enjoyable Visit
The hotel is a comfortable, well kept property. The staff are helpful and friendly. I don't speak much Spanish and everyone was patient when speaking to me in Spanish and the front desk staff were fluent in English. The location was central to different attractions in the Lima area and was good for our purposes. It was a lower priced area than the bigger tourist area of Miraflores which is not far away.

I was greeted by staff which helped me get online and direct me to local places. The only complaint I have about Thunderbird Hotels Carrera is that their rooms were freezing cold. But, as with other classy hotels, they provided me with an electric heater, which warmed things up.

The food in the Alameda Restaurant covers the spectrum of food Americans love, right on the second floor. There is no need to go out.

RF Lima
Retro Hotel
This should be called a retro hotel. Its furnishings appear to be from the early 1960's which adds to its character. This hotel was clean and comfortable and offered excellent front desk service. It is not close to the aiport as advertised on orbitz but it was less than 30 minutes without traffic, about 45 during rush hour. A good value if you are just passing through Lima and want a clean room at a good price.

Great vacation
My friends and I had a great experience at the hotel. Besides having a Casino in the first level, the staff was very friendly and spoke English fluently. Also, the location of the hotel is great. It's close to Miraflores and Downtown Lima and other turist attractions. Overall a very nice and clean hotel. We're definetely going back to this hotel next time we're in Lima.

Short drive from hotel
Lima's nightlife can almost be compared to Miami's nightlife. I'd suggest head over to Calle de las Pizzas or Pizzas St. There you'll find nightclubs and places to eat also. You may also go to Larcomar.
