Grand Hotel Amrath Amsterdam

The hotel was very nice, great staff, very clean. Well situated for touring the city. They gouge for parking, so don't drive a car there if you don't have to.

Easy location close to central station, but a walk to museums. Large comfortable rooms, friendly staff that are fluent in English.

This hotel is in a great location near the Centraal Station. My room was very comfortable, especially the bed. I didn't like the hotel when I first walked in because it looks spooky. However, it is pretty and it grew on me. All the stained glass is interesting. The free minibar is a nice perk. The only thing I didn't like was the lights. You have to put in a card, but there were stairs going down into the room, so it is easy to fall if you are trying to turn them on in the dark. Also, the tub is very tall for climbing in and out. So, it might not be a good choice for an older person. I would definitely like to stay there again, though.

Great spa/pool area. Most of staff were great, except 1 nighttime receptionist who was very rude. Rooms are gorgeous, lovely view. Complimentary mini bar! Great location- right next to Central Station.

I arrived early and jet-lagged and had asked for early check-in. I was given a choice of rooms at the personalized and civilized check in. The ambience is great. The spa /wellness center is very nice as well. I was able to book a massage before arrival. The concierge recommended a lovely restaurant and breakfast buffet was lovely although it would be expensive if one wasn't hungry. This is a city of walkers and bicycles and distances are measured on foot. The hotel is "five minutes" from the central station" but I have mobility issues and it took me twenty. I don't know if there is a handicapped entrance but the stairs at the front of the hotel are also a challenge. The staff was very helpful in these regards. The weather was quite warm for the season and the hotel is not air-conditioned. I was given a fan which helped somewhat. Free Wi-fi and minibar was great as were the generous shower and tub.

What a great experience. The people were extremely nice and helpful. All hotels should learn from the Amrath's free mini bar idea. I would stay there every time, no exceptions.

The hotel is in a good location near the Central Station and within walking distance of Dam Square. There are a fair number of dining places nearby. What lacks in this property is 5 star staff training as the reception staff are almost brutal in their ability to not respond to any request-much more stringent and unaccommodating than many 3 star properties. The property itself is clean and the rooms spacious if not dark in decor but it is the staff that makes it a cold property and not worthy of the prices charged to stay there.

Hotel has nicely sized rooms and bathrooms. Best of all, free wireless internet throughout the hotel and in rooms, and free mini-bar usage including water, drinks and coffee. Hotel staff was courteous, professional, and helpful. Only negative was that I found the rooms a little dark, even with all the lights on. While I enjoy a cozy ambiance, sometimes it's nice to be able to really turn the lights up. Hotel is great for someone who wants convenient access to Centraal Station. And while the building is very old, everything inside the rooms was spanking new.
