Decent hotel
Pros - The hotel was fairly new and well kept. The free parking option felt very secure - no need to pay for the paid parking, The price was reasonable and free wi fi was available. Cons - it was not close to anything. You need to take an infrequent bus to Venice. (to be fair though, they do not claim to be close to Venice). Breakfast was not included. Beers were $10 ( 7 Euros). Staff was friendly but this is a hit or miss at any hotel. We drove to Venice and parked for 3 euros an hour in the off season. I have no idea what parking is like in season but I am guessing it could be difficult.

Biz hotel some distance from everywhere
Novotel is pretty good, modern, clean fantastic breakfast buffet. workout area very disappointing, also TV set in the workout area and in my room were poorly wired, few stations. My only complaint though is that I had been searching for hotels by the Venice airport, and I must have made a mistake that took me to this Novotel. It was 10 miles or so from the airport, in the outskirts of Mestre, a USD 50 cab ride from the airport. And no simple way of getting to Venice for some tourism. And another $50 to go from the hotel to the airport. Made for a dismal business trip to the Venice area.

Short drive from hotel
Going to that part of Italy and not visitng Venice would be criminal. The city of Mestre also is worth a look; there is a nice downtown area (Piazza Ferretta)with several restaurant, less touristy than Venice and better food.

Value hotel for the price
The hotel is modern,clean, comfortable, well located near the Mestre train station. Employees were generally friendly and helpful. Free internet access in the lobby, a pool and fitness center are also available. Bar and restaurant on site as well, while adequate, a bit expensive as is to be expected. The hotel is used by Trafalgar Tours, so be ready for 4 busloads of tourists to descend on the hotel lobby to check in or for departure.

Take a taxi or bus (ten minute walk to bus stop) to the Mestre train station to visit various nearby cities. For a day, you can go to Padova (Padua), Verona, Trieste and others. For overnight stays you can go to Milan, or as far as Rome for a few days. Hotel staff can provide information on attractions in the cities, as well as a schedule and costs for the local or long distance trains.

great place if you travel by car
Driving to Venice is a logistical nightmare that involves parking the car at a $40/night city garage and then hauling your bags across bridges and vaporettos. This can be completely avoided if you stay in this hotel. Parking is free, and a scheduled city bus to Venice takes just 15 min. Great standard 4-star hotel, new and clean, efficient and friendly service. Lots of room, and many rooms comfortably sleep a family of 4. Good breakfast and OK dinner service too. The swimming pool is big but unfortunately it is only open 11 am – 8 pm at the time when all the tourists should be Venice.
