Pleasanlty surprised

The title says it best. We weren't sure what to expect with such an inexpensive hotel in such a great location within a minutes walk to San Marco or Rialto but the room was fantastic. Very rustic with a modern bath (although the toilet was a bit high off the ground and hard to use for my taste), as well as a very large patio that we unfortunately did not use because of inclement weather and the fact that I got very sick for the entire trip. Thankfully the room was great and allowed me to rest for almost 3 days. Now to the not so good or at least less than good. We only met the man who works at the hotel front desk the minute we were checking out to go to the train station. When we first arrived there was no one at the desk and we had to walk about 30 seconds to a very nice Piazza and enjoy some Italian sandwiches and drinks from a local cafe. It was only 1 p.m. but the door was completely locked so we couldn't even drop off our bags first, which was a bit disappointing. We only got in at around 2 p.m. because the maid happened to be in the lobby and let us in. Thankfully our room key was on the desk with my name and we took it upon ourselves to check in and go to our room. I don't think the front desk man works more than 4 hours or so a day and this is only in the early morning period (guessing between 7/8-11/12 because we never saw him after 12. It would have been really nice to have been able to get the password for wi-fi considering I could have used it while lying in bed all day on the last day we were in the city, but we couldn't. The hotel is extremely small. I believe there are only 7 rooms. 4 floors total with 2 rooms on the first 3 floors and then 1 room on the 4th floor. We stayed on the 4th floor and seeing as it is the only room I can speak of, I highly recommend it. I just highly recommend you find a way to contact the staff prior to your arrival to negotiate you getting into the room as well as knowing when he will actually be there during the day. But overall I would stay at this hotel again. It was a great location, a great room, at a great price!!! Grazie!
